Location for SBR engraving
« on: May 10, 2016, 12:51:23 PM »
Getting ready to start SBR process, and was wondering in what location on the gun are people having it engraved?  Thanks

I was limited by the machine the shop had.  It ended up right behind the selector pictogram on the right side.
Wasn't my first choice but it turned out fine.

Is engraving a polymer receiver any different than metal? Trying to find a local NFA engraver.

I was wondering the same thing about the metal vs plastic engraving.

I had my scorpion laser engraved on the lower angled section of the receiver just above the grip. It looks awesome and out of sight and by just picking it up you wouldn't notice it was there unless you were looking for it. I would post a pic but not sure how to do it!

I got mine done directly below the "CZ-USA Kansas City, KS" in a similar size/orientation. Looks factory.

The shop I used had done several ARs but this was his first polymer receiver.  I think he said he started out low and made a couple passes turning up the power.

Got mine done in exact same place. Meets all the requirements and yet I never notice it.

Re laser versus machine engraving, laser engraving works on polymer just ask them if they have done an Evo before and or see if they can test the laser on something like an old polymer AR stock or such (if they have never done it). Mr Guns in Plano TX did mine and knew what intensity /setting to use.

I do like that spot! Does it rub against your hand at all? I still haven't engraved my SBR. Local ATF guy told me I don't even have to unless I sell it. But whenever my two suppressors show up, I'm gonna have the transfer shop engrave for me.
