Gdawgs said exactly what I've heard here a number of times.
The decocker does have more moving action parts than a safety version.
This makes them just a little more complicated to work on for DIY owners and inexperienced Smith's.
JMO: I've only used the CZ Safety versions For Comp/Range use. The safety versions do have to be de-cocked manually on a live round. Some are not comfortable doing this, but it's easy to learn to do safely.
My carry pistol is a de-cocker Sig. I'm comfortable with either type. The de-cocker does supply another layer of safety for carry, that A range/Comp. pistol doesn't really need.
Either can be made a fine shooting pistol.
