New CZ P07 and things to consider
« on: May 24, 2016, 09:12:36 AM »
Hello, ive joined the forum recently because i adquired a new CZ p07 recently (the newer version). Im really happy with my purchase, I dont live in the US so getting good quality handguns besides Glock is kinda difficult. That being said I would like to know the most common issues/problems with these pistols, I have read that the Trigger Return Spring is prone to breakage if stressed a lot or not maintained well. Any other problems/issues to consider so I can get spare parts in advance since i can only travel abroad only once a year if im lucky. Anyways thanks to you all for reading my terrible english!

Congratulations on the pistol.

The only issues that I've heard of repeatedly are:
Trigger return spring breaking.
Slide stop breaking.
And the pin that holds the firing pin captive in the slide.

cajungunworks.com has an improved Trigger return spring and a improved firing pin retaining pin.

They also have kits that will improve the trigger.

Where are you living?

Sadly missing gave you a good start.  I would get some spare springs, even the small ones under the ejector, sear, decocker, extractor, as well as a spare trigger return spring, hammer spring, and recoil spring.  Also a trigger bar spring.  Then I would get a hammer strut pin, firing pin retainer pin.

I don't think you will break or wear out these parts, but you might loose one if you take the gun apart.  Here is a link to some videos that you might find helpful if you take the gun apart.

But, it also depends on how much you shoot your P-07.  I put over 10k rounds through a P-09 without replacing anything.  That could be one year or 10 for you.

Your English is good!

I live in Argentina, here everything is very hard to get except for Glock or Bersa (since its an Argentinian gun company), CZ guns are not a big problem to get either but the aftermarket parts or spare parts are a pain to get here. Thanks for the replies, ill look into that Missing.

Hard to get from a store?  Hard to get if ordered on line?  If you can order on line and get them shipped to you (may not be possible, I don't know) then either CZ USA or CZ Custom usually has, in stock, about every spare part you may ever need.

Cajun Gun Works and CZ Custom also stock/sell a lot of aftermarket parts as well.

If they can ship the parts to Argentina then check them out on the internet.

Oh, so far I've not broken anything on my P07 or P09 but I've bought springs, pins, etc., just in case.

An old guy that used to work with my dad said, "Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."  I think he was talking about keeping old stuff around for back up or spare parts, but it still works out with new stuff, too.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

mithrils: Welcome to the P-07 club! Cajun Gun Works upgrades are great if you don't mind working on your own pistol (with Joe's video help).

And the only thing I love almost as much as the P-07 is BERSA. I have 4 Bersa pistols. Like them all. My favorite is the BersaThunderPro UC9. Great carry gun. Some good people at Bersa and in Argentina.

Bersas dont have a good reputation here in Argentina, the p07 is better for sure. I can tell you first hand that the quality control on the p07 is far superior, well, its a more expensive gun so it makes sense, but i wouldnt trust my life on a Bersa. Just my 2 cents.

Importing stuff even those small parts its a pain here, any Argentinian can tell you that. Its just easier to travel to the US or something like that and buy the parts there, trust me.

Joe it was your videos that originally gave me the push to start modifying my pistols.
Great videos. Thank you for making them.

Up to four CZ's now and constantly modifying them lol.

Mithrils, why is it difficult?
Does customs make importing firearm parts difficult?

Thanks, that is good to know.  I enjoy making videos almost as much as shooting the pistols.

I upgraded my P-09 with Cajun Gun Works parts at about 1000 rounds. Upon disassembly the only thing I saw that was sure to fail was the roll pin that retains the firing pin. It was cracked and only a few shots from failing. This is not unique to the P series. The same pin in my RAMI shattered after only 40 rounds. I'd absulutely get the spring steel pin from CGW.

Will the spring steel pin for a 75B work in a P-07?
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.
