I finished rebuilding my surplus 75 D compact
« on: May 26, 2016, 11:26:09 PM »
So this thing looked like it had been drug behind a tricycle with a shoelace.  I sent it out locally for durakote after I stripped it down to springs and pins, replaced the sightes with a set of Meprolights, replaced all of the springs with stock replacements from CZ. The only thing I still need to do is grind off that lanyard loop and put on a set of grips.   I do kind of like it just as it is though.  I also managed to scratch it lightly right between the controls........

Thank you.  I really want to add some different grips but I like the palm swell a lot.  funny part is that I keep leaning toward the same exact VZ black cherry tac diamonds that are on my Colt lightweight commander. I hate them on that gun but still want to put them on this one.  Somebody needs to slap the hell out of me.

She looks great.  Is the frame steel or alloy?

Steel.  Did yours end up coming in with a steel frame?

My D hasn't arrived yet.  My Compact with the safety that I recently got has an alloy frame.  I am hoping the D is steel as I already have a PCR.

I like the steel frame.  The weight feels right, like a combat commander. Only it holds twice as many rounds.

I'll keep my fingers. Crossed for you.

Thanks, I like having both the steel and the alloy.

Someone just posted somewhere about Lok making G10 grips that have the same palm swell as the original CZ grips. They haven't made them for compact CZ's yet, but if I remember correctly they are working on it. Just an option to keep the palm swell and get the grip of G10. I'll go see if I can find the post.

Beautiful restoration!  I love the "back to original" look of that (with the lanyard loop).  Congrats.

Thank you everybody.   There were a couple of moments that i considered throwing all of the parts in a box and quiting work.  That sear cage is a nightmare the firat time you do it.
