Brought home my SP01
« on: June 04, 2016, 04:57:11 PM »
Got my Glock 21 sold and paid off a CZ 75 SP01 that the local Sportsmans Warehouse got in a couple weeks ago.  I'd been keeping my eyes open for one of these for a year.  Saw one at a gunshow but they wanted more than MSRP.  This one was listed at $619.  My discount got it to $588 before fees and tax.

Hopefully can get to a range later this weekend or next.

One more off my list of pistols to obtain.

Gratz on your new CZ. Let us know how it shoots. There is just something about the design of the SP-01 that gets me, the 75 as well but not in the same way.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Awesome! I got mine two weeks ago. BTW, the Mec-Gar 17 round flush mags with the anti friction coating are even better than the stock mags. Check them out if you need extras. They also have 19 rounders which are the 17 rounders with a +2 baseplate. Awesome mags at half the price of the stock ones.

Bought one as an extra for my 75B.  I have used MecGar mags in my Berettas, Sigs, and now CZs.  I've been sold on them since the '90s.

As a new owner of an SP-01 Phantom 9 mm that came with TWO (2) 18-rd mags, I'm confused as why an after market mag is just 17-rd.

Is there something special about the 18-rd factory mags that keeps 3rd parties from offering a duplicate for sale?

This is a timely question as I was planning on driving to San Antonio this morning to go to the Saxet Gun Show and look for a 3rd mag for my Phantom.

Mecgar makes the 18 Round for CZ. That is CZ's proprietary product that can only be offered as CZ OEM.
After market Mecgars are 17 round. 19 with the plus two adapter.
All Mecgar branded mags are a little different than the Mecgar CZ branded mags due to copyright etc.
That being said, nothing at all wrong with the Mecgar branded, and they are a lot cheaper too[emoji6]

Thanks for the explanation.  That says a lot about quality if Mecgar is the OEM for CZ's mags.

MecGar has been an OEM magazine manufacturer for many companies including Sig and Beretta as well.

BTW, Riflegear has OEM 18 rounders bulk magazines for $25 right now. I just purchased three of them. Get them while you can!
