My Israeli Refurb Project a Pictorial.
« on: June 09, 2016, 09:33:26 PM »
I made an impulsive purchase of one of AIM Surplus' Israeli CZ-75 pistols last month. I traded off a CZ-75B several years ago and always wished for another. I thought it would be interesting for others to follow along with my "on the cheap" refurb. I don't want to spend any more than I need to, but I want a decent looking shooter. The only thing is, it all gets done by me...100% DIY. I'm a casual shooter/gun enthusiast and am reasonably handy with tools. I am not a gunsmith. My only experience of this kind is due to ownership of many different firearms and a curiosity on how they function. I offer this up for entertainment and informational purposes only. I plan no real alterations of this pistol other than a facelift and some smoothing of the action. So, let's go.

This pistol would be just fine after a deep cleaning. It came out of the box filthy but in decent condition. My first step was to completely disassemble down to the frame; this anemic black spray paint has to go.

This stuff comes right off.

To be continued...

Duracoat DuraPark in black. I'm averse to bling. My flashiest pistol is stainless. Truth be told; I'd be tempted to simply clear coat this pistol if its appearance was uniform.

What can be seen of the stripped frame, looks pretty good on the outside.
That could be a real good shooter.
Looking forward to your progress.
