You mean the retainer pin that keeps the hammer cross-pin in place? (or whatever they are called....)

The little plate under spring tension behind the safety lever. Has a little hole in it?
Of course, I've been wrong before...Tony

Yes it has a small hole in the center of it. If you stick a thick paper clip through the hole on the outside of the thumb safety you should be able to capture the detent in order to put the safety back into the gun. If you loose it you can still install the safety back into the gun without the detent and the gun will function until you can locate another. I know this the hard way, I did not stick a paper clip through the safety and capture the detent on the first Pre-B I disassembled and the detent and spring went flying when I pulled the thumb safety out of the gun. Those things are a bear to put back on the safety once they get loose.

Amen.
Not only that, I put all of the effort into getting it reinstalled only to discover I was backwards. So, double the fun! i have it together, now I need to figure out what else I did wrong. The trigger is wonky and the return spring doesn't have enough oomph to reset the trigger. I'm thinking there's a misaligned trigger bar or some such...

I sure am learning more about this pistol than I'd bargained for.

That looks great!  Is the slide stop/slide release inserted all the way?  It may just be a trick of the light. Also more pics are always appreciated.

It sounds like the spring under the trigger bar is either not in place or improperly adjusted. Take the grips off and look to see if the spring is in the grooves under the trigger bar.

Good catch. Yeah, it wasn't completely inserted.

I did that backward detent thing too. It was so easy, I should have known it was wrong. The right way.......what a pisser to get back in! Whom ever designed that part was not a Christian!
Your gun looks 100% better, congrats on a job well done.
