DIY...P07 hammer spring
« on: June 15, 2016, 06:17:17 PM »
Ok...let me start by saying I'm not  the most handy person at fixing things, but I'm willing to try...wanting to know how complicated it is to replace the hammer spring? Of course I'm trying to improve the DA pull...I've looked for videos, but have had no luck...any advice would be appropriated

Sootch00 did a review video on the P07.  Take a look about 16:45 minutes in:

I don't have the lanyard loop on mine, so replacing the backstraps and/or hammer spring is a bit harder.  Be careful to make sure your hammer isn't cocked at all.  Also, that spring is under tension so it'll fly out fairly easily if you don't watch out.

I did not know that the first time I changed backstraps LOL

Any suggestions on a poundage for the new spring?

Why do you want to change it?

I was under the impression by changing/lightening  the hammer spring it would somewhat in the DA pull..of course I'd like to do other things as well, but I thought this would be a good place to start. Opinions....suggestions? Thanks

I would recco the

SPGK79 Self Defense Spring Kit P-07 P-09 from CGW with

#15 recoil spring and guide rod

92030 Short Reset Kit P-07 P-09 P-01 Convertible

unless you are ready to spring for the whole pro grade kit.

You can add the TRS,roller and Hammer later or sooner. O0

Call them with questions.

I believe the stock hammer spring is approaching 20lbs. You could simply drop in a 15lb "gold" hammer spring from Cajun Gun Works. They do insist you use their reduced power firing pin spring along with it. If you're going to remove the firing pin, you may as well upgrade it with their extended firing pin and retaining pin plus the reduced power firing pin block spring. These are all sold in a couple spring kit choices and you should really do the whole spring kit to keep things even. Then there are other things you might as well do while you are in there. You can see where this goes.. There's no end and eventually you'll end up doing the whole pro package. Lol. Seriously though, the defensive or the competition spring kit are the answer to your question.
