Rami Holster styles
« on: June 18, 2016, 03:05:39 PM »
I just purchased my first CZ, a RAMI.  I am looking at different holsters after reading the sticky on what others are using.  My question which style of holster do you like the most.  A single holster clip style like http://www.desantisholster.com/MINI-SCABBARD or a dual clip holster like http://aliengearholsters.com/alien-gear-cloak-tuck-3-0-iwb-holster-inside-the-waistband.html.  This is my first carry gun so I am just looking for the pros and negatives to each style.

I have a rami and don't carry every day.  When I did or do I have an in the waist holster.  It is not the smallest or lightest gun, so if you are planning on carrying all day, you want a degree of comfort.  If you figure out a way to actually try some alternatives that is your best choice.  Personally, I ended up liking pocket carry the best.  I am not apologizing for it because I have several CZs, but carry a Sig 238 or Sig 938, in my pocket, not cocked and locked.  Sorry guys, but that is how I am most comfortable, mentally and physically.

Nothing wrong with those choices.  My RAMI isn't my most carried piece but when I do it is OWB in an UBG pancake holster.  Too fat to carry IWB with my wardrobe.

This one work for me and my son, we carry 8-10 hours a day 7 days a week.  The N82 Professional Smith & Wesson M&P Shield  Fits the Rami very well.

I EDC my RAMI and have been using a Remora IWB that I've come to really like. Here's their web addy: http://www.remoraholsterstore.com/Default.asp The one for the RAMI is the #5ART. I got mine with the sweat shield option.

This thing works with cargo shorts; dress pants; jeans; even a drawstring sweat suit if you are so inclined!

My favorite holster is an IWB Ryan Grizzle Southern Sidekick Reinforced. Adjustable for almost any position, tuckable and superbly made. Just take a look at what he has to offer. I know he has long lead times but worth the wait.

My RAMI is my EDC and it is carried in a hybrid holster. Two clips distribute the weight nicely. I carry at 8 o'clock  (lefty).

I carry my RAMI in either a Sparks SS2 or a watch 6 for a G19 depending on how I need to dress

I am also looking for a good AIWB holster with limited success. I just purchased, yet to receive a holster for a subcompact 1911 3" barrel. We'll see if it fits. My thoughts are that it will as the Rami and Colt subcompact are cousins. We'll see.

I started off with a Black Arch 2 clip IWB which was fine but I now use a single clip N82 original IWB. They are hard to beat for comfort.

I love my dual belt loop holsters.  A recently discovered downside to wide rigid holsters in general for those that may need to constantly de-arm in criminal safe zones such a private property, car pooling to those sites that one visits, is that it makes it tough to TEMPORARILY place in the pocket, for instance as you walk from/to the vehicle to stow it.  In a car, I occassionally off body carry.  Arriving home, it would be nice to TEMPORARILY  shove in a pocket on the way to the bedroom to change.

All in all, spreading the weight across a wider area of the belt is worth it.

I also now use a Ryan Grizzle that I recently purchased and love it everything about this family business is outstanding IMO. It is the T&C 2 IWB reinforced holster. http://www.rgrizzleleather.com/iwb-holsters.html I carry my Rami everyday all day except in work due to company policy but it is stored in my car while I am inside. I started with a Galco leather holster that worked ok but had no body guard that I found a little uncomfortable in hotter weather when the gun rested against my body and not a T-shirt. I like the feel of leather more than kydex and that is the reason I chose it besides I get smooth side in on my holsters in the hopes of less wear on my guns (not sure if this works but it makes me feel better). The Ryan Grizzle has 2 straps spread a little further apart than the Galco and I do think it helps distribute the weight of this chunky but oh so wonderful gun better. Kydex or leather or a combination of the two is a personal choice but I do think for the Rami two clips or straps is a good choice.
