Why did you change the grips?
« on: June 22, 2016, 01:57:42 PM »
For those of you that change out the grips from the factory issued version:  Why?  For appearance?  Fit?  Function?  Durability?  One of the reasons I chose the Rami was because it fits my hand and feels good and is easy to hold onto.  Are other materials better?  Advantages to a different grip?  I'm just curious.

I changed my RAMI grips because I think wood looks better.

Because Wed is carbon fiber day [emoji4] Honestly, the factory rubber grips are just fine for me.

I really like the rubber grips that come standard. But I changed them anyway. The reason is that the rubber tends to grab shirts whereas the wood doesn't. It is easier to lift a tucked in shirt over a concealed RAMI with wood grips than rubber grips.

Speaking of changing grips, I have been considering going to some made from G10 in a starburst design for my Rami. This is mainly for some bling. They are stated to have an "aggressive" texture and appear so.

Will someone who has these comment?

The stock Rami grips are frequently described as "comfortable".  I guess I'm just not that sensitive.  I can't see how a slab-sided grip whether rubber, checkered or whatever can be called "comfortable".  Now a molded or formed grip would be another matter.  But generaliy I don't like the looks of those.

Thanks.

I changed to wood for two reasons
1) Looks nicer than the plain Jane rubber, and I could choose the wood I liked.
2) Had full size grips with finger grooves made - improved the hold for me.

Picture says 1,000 words..... But to be completely fair the wood grips are far more comfortable to me then the factory rubberized ones, so even though looks is why I did it looks and feel is why I keep them on lol.

Well they came, I put them on and shot 75 rounds.  The oblong holes fit perfectly on the bushings with no issues. I like the look and don't notice anything adverse about their feel.
