CZ confirms EVO Scorpion change to magazine polymer
« on: June 27, 2016, 08:35:17 AM »
I recently (April) purchased 4 magazines directly from CZ.

Last week, I was loading up a few magazines with my carry ammo, when one of the feed lips broke along the length of the feed lip. I contacted CZ Warranty Support, and received this reply...

"We have an updated polymer that we started using about 4 months ago and we have eliminated the stress fracture issues. I can Only exchange out your damaged mags but not the other ones you have that aren?t broken. So if by chance the feed lips on your other magazines break before you send them in then I can replace them as well. Let me know if you have further questions."

I told them I found it interesting that just two months ago I ordered these magazines from CZ, and now find they changed the polymer four months ago to correct this issue, but are still sending out potentially defective products.

So - they DO have a issue with these mags, but they seem to be willing to replace any that have a problem. I plan to have several load/unload session this week to see if others will have issues.

Happy Monday,
Bob S.

Are you reading between the lines like I am?  I love CZ-USA.  :)

Well that's good news.

They can't exactly swap everyone's mags all at once... so I ain't mad at them for only dealing with broken ones on a first come, first served basis.

I bought way more mags than I needed for just this reason. I expect to break a few per year and slowly cycle through them.

What john a said...the plastic mags are the 1 downfall of the scorp i can think of....but it is what it is..cz will fix this...they always were a step above many others out there...steel feed lips would go a long way

The big downfall to scorpion mags is factory oem mags are so affordable making our usa companies less quick to start making an improved mag. I hope a good usa company will start making some maybe with built in ranger tabs. Who knows what the future holds.

I bought 8 additional mags with my Scorpion carbine direct from CZ and so far the having proven durable. The 30 rounders are my favorite of the three available sizes.

CZ said this "information release" may be premature, but there are some things that they are looking at doing in the near to middlin' future. I think one of the primary things to remember is the Scorpion was built as a battlefield firearm, where magazines tend to be used once, dropped and forgotten. I could be wrong. However, the stunning commercial success of the Scorpion worldwide is quite possibly leading to rethinking on supposedly disposable magazines, as Americans cannot simply go to the Supply Sergeant and draw another 10 mags from storage. :) But, what changes are/may be coming, aren't set in stone and I was given no specifics.

Plus if you ever have a defective magazine CZ will replace it immediately so there's nothing to worry about.

Unless the Dems ram another AWB with high capacity magazine restrictions down our throats... Then we're screwed if they ever break.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we work our little rear ends off doing everything we can to make sure they don't do that...but that topic is best saved for the RTKBA forum. :)

I just hope someone in the usa starts to make them. I'd like a beta drum that's affordable and reliable. I'd settle for some good metal liped 30 rounders.

How can you confirm if you have new or old mags?
