Mounting a small Weaver rail was actually my first idea, but I like to keep things as simple as possible and grooving the top of the receiver to accept the 3/8ths inch rimfire mounts seems to be the simplest way to go. As a matter of fact, tonight I noticed the rib along the top of the Kadet is just about 3/8ths of an inch wide. It's possible a rimfire scope will clamp to that rail tightly enough to hold a small red dot in place.
As for iron sights being more precise, not in my experience. I can always shoot much tighter groups with a red dot than with iron sights. At least, that's the way it was with my Ruger pistols.
