« on: July 02, 2016, 11:02:07 AM »
My local gun store has 2 30 Round Scorpion Magazines. Is there any way to determine if they are the new or older material ? Hibmep

They have a date code on the back of the magazine.
It will have the last 2 digits of the year it was made, with an arrow pointing to the month in a circle like a clock face.
Also check the base for CZ USA.

From what I understand, late 2015 is when the switch happened.  I don't know the exact timeline.
But my one marked 10 of 2015 is the same as all mine marked 2016.

Looking for this date code. I feel very sad that CZ still sent out the old "bad" magazine. I received the order that I made three weeks ago with date code 11-2015.

Do you know what starting date code that indicate the magazine issue was corrected???

It's not a huge deal if you get old ones. They will replace all defective mags.

What exactly did they change ? Was this just a running change, or new part numbers etc ...?

To the best of my knowledge and from real insiders...there has been no changes in material or mold. Minor color differences have occurred between batch to batch, but the material and mold remain the same at this time.

I have 5 of the old ones. None of them have had any issues. Don't worry about it so much.

I just ordered a Scorpion Evo carbine this morning so this is my first post.  I want to order about five 30 round mags but I want to make sure that they're the new "improved" ones.  Is anyone aware of an online seller that is definitely shipping the newer ones?  The best prices appear to be from CZ, GunMagWarehouse, Prepper Gunshop, needmoregear.com Tombstone Tactical and a couple others.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info guys.  This is exactly why I join the forums that I do.

Greg Cote LLC has the newer US mags, ordered several from him last week.

You mean the 922 compliant magazines with US made followers and base plates? The mag bodies are made in the Czech Republic, unless someone is 3D printing knockoffs here in the States that I hadn't heard of. Defense Distributed getting involved?

Personally, I'm not going to worry about it.  If it breaks, it breaks!  It's not like that this is a real common problem and I'm sure, considering all the mags they sell, that the percentage of breakage is very small.
