Carbines owners, need for a the safety selector change
« on: July 05, 2016, 07:59:43 PM »
My Carbine's safety selector does not bother me when I fire it.
Is the safety switch a bit different from the pistol?
Do other carbine owners have a problem with the selector?

The last time shot my carbine I don't remember the safety selector bothering my trigger finger at all.

I have heard that it's only an issue when shooting as a pistol.

Waiting on the ATF to approve my form 1 before I make a decision to replace or not replace the selector.

It wasn't a big issue just a minor annoyance depending on how I gripped. Installed the factory delete but might do some reduction to the original and reinstall it.

Holy riser batman! The stock dips down for a reason. It's not straight like AR-15s where you have to have a riser.

Whether the safety bothered me or not (it did pre SBRing), I'd still buy the AK safety, which I did. It's awesome.
-Form 1 filed 11/15, approved 3/16
-HBI AK safety lever
-HBI left side safety delete
-HBI Duckbill magazine release
-HBI Delta extended charging handle
-HBI Theta trigger shoe
-CZC trigger pack
-CZC upgraded disconnector
-CZC trigger job 3#
-CZC Zhukov adapter and stock
-Yetiwurks Switchback

That riser... I'd be getting a chinweld instead of a cheekweld.

Calm down boys just doing some beta testing; throwing things on, see what works (for me). Might even go with a scope or swap out the irons or just lose them.

Looks like a simple change out, I know the selector is held in place by an Allen screw. Do you recall the size? I'm looking at doing the same change out in the near future. My son has my metric Allen keys (plus some other tools out on loan) and I don't want to buy a whole set if I don't need to.

Thanks, Tenbones.

jrodiicus: The trigger is fine as far as I'm concerned, compared to my CX4 or Glock MechTech it's lighter and smoother. The right safety doesn't let me keep my trigger finger outside of the trigger guard, when moving, the way I prefer. The safety does dig into my finger a little while shooting, distracting, but not a major problem. I may go with the AK style right safety that HB industries makes.

Before getting the CZC trigger, I'd have to say the AK safety by HBI was my favorite mod.

You must not have experience with a "good" trigger then!
Calling it a "battle trigger" is a compliment to the Scorpion. It has a mile of creep, squishy break, and it's stiff as hell. I have HBI springs on the way - we'll see if that brings it up to a satisfactory level.

My trigger isn't that terrible. Easy enough to put a tight group together. Maybe I got lucky or there is a range of tolerances or we all have different standards. I have handled the complete CZC trigger job and it is a different action, no comparision.
