Picking up my RAMI today!
« on: July 11, 2016, 12:17:25 PM »
I purchased the safety model mainly because I have an 85b with a safety and wanted to keep the ergonomics similar between the two.
Will the Rami need to be cleaned before taking it to the range?

I also ordered an IWB from White Hat Holsters but have 4-5 weeks before it ships. >:(

I recommend you do clean(factory gunk out), inspect, lube and perform function checks. Make your self some dummy rounds(if you have a press) and use those to test feed and ejections. Do this prior to your range trip to avoid wasting time.

If you don't have a press, maybe a friend can make a few for you. (Strongly advise that they are marked visibly to indicate dummy rounds AND stored in a separate and distinct container/box)  Otherwise you can purchase them online or a local gun shop.

Enjoy the new pistol.

Nice!  Enjoy your new Rami!  I would definitely clean it before taking it to the range.  Let us know how your first range trip goes.

Congrats! I always clean a new gun and polish the feed ramp a little too (although now I hear I'm not supposed to do that).  I also went wth the safety version.  Even though I carry condition 2, I want the option of a safety and be able to carry Condition 1, not to mention the decocker doesn't poke me in the side and they're quite a bit cheaper as well.
Albuquerque, NM (although not really NEW, not really MEXICO!)

I don't normally clean a new gun before I shoot it.  But new CZ's have a reputation for coming from the factory pretty gunked up.  So when I got my new decocker several weeks ago I did clean it first. I wouldn't have needed to.  It turned out to already be very clean.  It makes me wonder if the factory has changed their process.

Once something is reported on the Internet it often takes on a life of its own and continues forever.

I also went wth the safety version.  ...they're quite a bit cheaper as well.

When I bought my decocker I could have lived with the safety model.  But I wanted night sights.  The price difference is due to the decocker having night sights.

Safety models are much more available.  Finding a decocker model was a real challenge.  None of the area dealers or even their distributor had one.

Night sights definitely would have been nice.
I will be replacing the sights as I really don't care for them, well my eyes don't like them to be more exact.
The stock sights on the Rami (safety version) have to be the most dull/dim sights I have looked through. That is really the only knock I have on the gun. However that is just my opinion since everyone's eyes are different.

My range session went well. Zero issues (100 rounds) with the guns performance though my personal performance left a lot of room for improvement.  :-[
Lets just say that my tendency to push shots to the right is definitely more pronounced with the Rami than the CZ85b I also took to the range.
Personally I just think that ALL my guns sights are off! ;D

Cleaning/Lubing a new gun might not be vital, but it is just a good habit.  You also might notice something else wrong with it while you are cleaning, so it's worth doing.  It's good to pay attention to the bore on a new gun.  Stay safe.
