CZ 512 Tactical....giving it a little attention.
« on: July 12, 2016, 05:06:51 PM »
I know the Scorpion and Bren are sexy and get all the attention but the 512 Tactical is one neat looking rifle with the ATI stock, not to mention a fine shooting one. I'm planning to take a friend and his young adult son and friend for a range session soon so I figured they would enjoy some plinking time with the 512 and an old model Aimpoint Comp M.

Wanted to zero it at 25 yards ahead of the planned outing....didn't take too long [emoji4]

VERY NICE looking gun & group.  Is this a Stock replacement kit?  And what is the magazine capacity?  Does the mag come with the Replacement Stock?

I think ATI sells the kit only to retrofit it into the tactical model. I am also not sure what magazine(s) comes with the Tactical as this was the grand prize from last year's Independence Day forum drawing. I think it came with the 5-round mag in the box and the 25 round mag came later. The 10-round mags are actually handier than the long, curvy 25-rounder mag.

Thanks.  I may upgrade to it for $170, it really looks good & I like the Pistol Grip. It looks very easy to install. Thanks again.

The time consuming part is aligning and securing the 5 screws on the brace that run the length of the rifle frame and barrel. That includes doing maintenance that involves taking the bolt out. It is what gives the kit and rifle a solid feel though.

NICE. Does the barrel remain completely Free-Floated?  What is the rail material?  And how heavy is the kit?

The barrel rests on a post inside the lower portion of the fore end which is tightened up with a screw so it's not free floated. You can see it on the barrel in the photo and I believe it's also the same as the wooden fore end model. The top rail is Weaver with points to attach additional rail mounts. Per the CZUB (Czech catalog), it has a plastic adjustable butt stock and an aluminum fore end. The complete rifle weighs 2.8 kg versus 2.7 kg for the standard 512. It's truly a model that goes under the radar of the .22lr market for plinking fun.

Thanks, looks like a hoot for Wild Hogs. I have it on my Christmas  List.

How many rounds does that curved mag hold?  And are they available to purchase?

The curved mag holds 25 rounds but are only available for .22lr per the CZ-USA online website.
