P01 Omega Decocker Question
« on: July 13, 2016, 11:22:04 AM »
Hey guys

So yesterday I got my hands on a new P01 Omega (black), and I must say that I really like the pistol, however, I do have one issue.  The decocker on this model is absolutely painful.  Sharp edges with no real platform that just tare up my thumb every time I use it.  That said, I was interested if anyone has this model and has experienced a similar issue.  Additionally, does anyone have any recommendations to keep the decocker from springing back up with so much authority, as it currently rips past my thumb whenever it engages.

Thanks in advanced

I have a new Urban Grey P-01 and don't have this problem with the decocker, it doesn't seem to have sharp edges either. I tried actuating it different ways after reading your post and have no problems when I use the front pad of my thumb but if I use the side of my knuckle it is a little painful and tries to jump past the knuckle on return. Are you using positive force with the pad of your thumb? if not, I would suggest giving it a try.

yeah.  the issue that I have is that when the hammer drops, the decocker is snapping up with enough force that it is ripping past the meaty portion of my thumb.  To give an idea,  approximately 20 decocks and a day later, my thumb is still tender.  I was thinking that if I replaced the hammer spring with a lighter one (13# or 15#) it might resolve the issue, but not sure.  The big surprise for me was just how snappy the thing is, and how unlike it is to other decocking firearms.  Where a standard P01, Sig, or even a Berretta will drop the hammer independent of the release.....this omega tension feels like it is directly tied to the hammer.  So it snaps up with the same force as the hammer falls.  That with the small angled/ridged shelf of the omega decocker just causes it to snap right past my thumb.  if that makes sense

That makes sense and sounds unusually powerful.

I just got mine and also have a P09, neither hurt me. That being said, I do concur the return has some force.
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

My 2014 P-07 gen 2 has the same painful snap. It's the only thing I hate on the gun.
