Changing P07 back strap pointers
« on: July 15, 2016, 11:30:58 PM »
I have the flush fitting hammer spring plug and when I bought my Gen 2 P07 it had the small strap installed so I changed it out for the medium and it was all I could do to get that bleep plug in and replace. Well I've been pondering the large module wondering if it will give me a more true say P01 feel, but I don't have fond memories of going through that he'll again. Does anyone have a fix for doing this other than pure brute finger strength??

I always use the table or something solid to push against.  Once the mainspring plug is in, i install the pin.  If everything does not line up, I ease off on the pressure, realign, and go again.

On my bench in my basement, the frame is made of 2x4 lumber.  I have a round head sheet metal screw screwed into the face of the frame.  With the frame of the gun pointing down, I press the hammer spring plug against the head of the screw while pushing the pin out with a small punch.

It allows pretty good leverage and works well for me.

I rigged up something similar with a nylon-tipped punch and my vise.

I never thought I'd miss the lanyard loop LOL

I was fighting with my CZ 85 Friday morning trying to get the plug out and back in again.  I got the drill out with a phillips head bit in it and ran a round headed screw (almost) into the door frame stud by my bench.  Made it very easy to get that plug pushed back in so the pin would slide in easy.  I don't have enough hands (only 2) to get it done any other way.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
