10 round mags for VZ 58?
« on: July 21, 2016, 03:48:05 PM »
Anyone know a source for a 10 round double stack magazine? Just looking for one for bench shooting, so not interested in a 30 rounder that's been pinned/blocked. Just did a search at my usual dealers and they're all either out of stock or ridiculously overpriced.

Best deal I've found so far is from ContinentalMilitaria.com out of the Czech Republic, about $30 w/shipping for one. Would prefer to deal with a vendor in the 48 states but if these guys are reliable that's OK.

None that I know of other than the CR ones.  The aluminum polymer alloy on these mags is hard to work as I understand it.

FAB defense is making a 30round one and am hoping they start doing 20 or 10 rounders for bench/precision work.

For anyone interested, there's ONE 10 round VZ58 on ebay, had three and I just ordered two of them. Just under $36 w/shipping. Description is 'used surplus 100% functional no dings or dents".

I use those at the range. Works well with a rest, such as the Lead Sled Solo.

I saw that.

I wonder what the legalities are of having a few firearms parts / magazines shipped from the Czech Republic to the US?

I had some motorcycle parts shipped to me from England via FedEx a few months ago. It was a nightmare filling out all the customs forms, etc. Considering the amount of trouble and time expenditure, I probably could have flown to the UK, picked the parts up myself and taken them back on the plane for less trouble than having them shipped to me in the US.

Also, I'd hate for ordering something like this from overseas to put me under the magnifying glass of the alphabet soup boys...

That looks good!

How did you get the lips on the bottom of the magazine body turned 90 degrees so that the floor plate could be fitted?

Being a ham fisted lout, no skills or tools, I doubt that I could accomplish anything like that.

Is another piece of metal, fixed with rivets.

Ive ordered many items from overseas and never had to fill out a customs form when shipped USPS once reaching the states.

The rules over importing are foggy and are mostly geared toward "machine gun parts" but exactly how that is defined is anyone's guess

customs - if the item is worth less than $100 then you're generally fine.

paskeCZ - that looks great.  And pop rivets too which pretty much any bumbling oaf can manage...
Did you reuse the original base and just cut it down or fabricate from scratch?

Looks excellent.  Can you give the dimensions in mm of where the cut was made?  I count a total of 10 coils but the spring may or may not extend past the edges of the photo -- is 10 coils total after being cut correct?

Springbase? is cut original.
Is now a 12 rounds mag, no dimensions to 10.
Spring is not so important, kan even let original.

I've ordered a few VZ items under $100 from sellers out of Czech Republic thru ebay with no issues. Every one shipped USPS International with a shipping cost of about $12. One seller required a signature but the rest of it just arrived in my mailbox in less than 2 weeks.

BTW both of my 10 rounders ran great, for the price I'm satisfied. I pulled the bottom plate and they look factory, if they were cut down someone did a fine job. Also ordered some BXN stripper clips from CR and the 10 rounders with stripper clips worked pretty well for tabletop use.
