Got a couple of Scouts on the way
« on: July 25, 2016, 07:36:01 PM »
Although my two daughters are still a bit young, I decided to order a couple of 452 Scouts for them.  We'll begin with the single-shot device, but I also ordered two magazine for each of them.  Did anyone else start their kids out on a Scout?

I had a gunsmith cut down length of the Scout stock few years ago, because it was too long for my kids at the time.

At the same time I bought a replacement Scout stock from CZ-USA for a later use.

It is a vastly better rifle than the Cricket (and easier to load) and similar young shooter rifles.

Both my girls started with a Scout. The biggest problem I experienced was the tremendous accuracy of the gun. Seriously, it was so easy to master they both got bored pretty quick just shooting small groups. Then when I handed them a Ruger they shot a few mags and handed it back. Had to upgrade the barrel, stock and trigger just to meet thier standard of excellence. It might sounds like they are spoiled, but really the Scout set the bar too high.  ;D

That might not be a problem for us.  My daughters, especially my 7-year old, tend to be easily if discouraged if they aren't proficient at things immediately.
