Brand New Rami FTF !
« on: August 05, 2016, 11:04:05 AM »
Hey guys ...

New here in the rami fan club. Bought a Rami 9mm safety last week and finally took it to the range last night. The first about 50-60 rounds were flawless through the 10rd and 15 rd mags.

After that, with the same ammo, the gun started to jam and would not completely load the bullet. It would get stuck half way into the barrel. Honestly it was shocking to me. I have owned 3-4 CZ and never had any issues with them.

I am a semi noob. please look at the pic below and tell me what you think it might be?? :o

I cleaned it thorougly and put a good amount of oil in it before i went to the range so i know it wasnt dry, maybe not wet enough.

Thanks. I went through the two threads. Not sure if mine is just too tight because its new or its a manufacturer defect.

Had a similar problem with mine, not quite a severe as yours, mine would just not fully go into battery, seemed like a rough spot kind of hanging things up.
Did a good cleaning--next timeout everything was fine and still is never a problem since.
I think it may have been the ammo.

What brand ammo?
I'd lube it up a little more and try it out again. Lube slide, couple drops oil between trigger bar and frame, couple drops in sear.
Pull the mags apart and clean inside. A small amount of car polish buffed clean works great inside and out.
The Rami can be a bit tighter than its bigger brothers but should work out.
If more issues then post back.

Edit to add.... Your slide does look dry to me. Of course it could just be the pic.

Also, don't oil the firing pin channel. Breech face should be clean but not oiled (dry lube is ok). Same applies to chamber and ramp. Can you tell if there is a hangup on the breech side? Will it go into battery if you whack the slide? Is this the stock recoil spring or was it replaced with a reduced recoil spring? I bet a light polish of ramp, chamber and breech face would fix it.

There can be many rough spots in the gun, bottom of the breach, firing pin hole, etc.  Clean, lube, cycle, dryfire, repeat can work wonders.

Id try that before digging too deep.

Mine hung up like yours when I first received it.  sometimes a light tap would chamber the round, sometimes a hard smack was needed.  I found the face where the firing pin hole is was rough. I polished that up to a near mirror finish.

I have 2k rounds of hand loads through it without failure after the polish And my loads are long 1.155in and light.

I haven't found running it wet affected functionality . I've run dirty loads at practice, carried, shot an idpa match did this twice over two weeks without re lubbing.

I hope it is an easy and fast fix for you.

What kind of lube are you using?

Too much viscosity in the recoil spring assembly can gum up the works and cause the recoil spring to act like a pneumatic shock absorber (e.g. Frog Lube).

Most likely you will need to:

1) radius the firing pin hole in the slide breech face
2) chamber may need to be reamed with a finish reamer
3) mirror polish the "break over" ramp on the barrel

We have seen this several times with RAMI's.  The above has fixed them every time (at least so far).

I had two problems with my Rami.  First, it was a weak wrist issue.  Once I controlled the recoil better the misfeeds stopped.  Then, after about 600 rounds it started again.  A new outer recoil spring solved the problem.  Good luck!
