Vz2008 disconnector question
« on: August 10, 2016, 10:36:54 AM »
Hello. New to the forum and had a question

I have a vz2008 with the ramped shaped disconnector.  When racking the bolt it catches the top of the disconnector on the way back and causes the trigger to depress.  Should i round it off? Normal?  Thanks!

Rack it with force and report back.  Or better yet try shooting and see if it does the same.

Slow racking on these guns results in quite a different experience than live fire level forces...

I've seen the issue you're describing. It can cause the striker to intermittently follow the bolt carrier home, thus causing a dead trigger. You can attempt to round off the disconnector but you don't have much wiggle room. If I were you, I would replace the disconnector.

That issue is relative easy to replicate if you don't have a tabbed carrier on a VZ2008.  Allow the bolt carrier to go forward slowly and hit the disconnector.  And allow it to come to a full stop/hang up.  That stop/hang up point is where the trigger slight depresses from tension on the disconnector...  Should hold itself in place.  Then slap or palm the charging handle to move the bolt carrier forward.  9 times out of 10 you're able to give yourself a dead trigger...  Aka, one version of the gremlin.

However, when you fire the gun or rack it back fully and let loose, the trigger does not behave the same as it is a leverage and time action not an amount of force action.

It's certainly a timing issue. No doubt about it. It occurs intermittently. But here's my experience when taking my very own OOW rifle to the range.... My OOW was a gremlin machine. At the time, I also owned a vz2008 and the Czech vz58. Hand cycling the OOW was noticeably different. Yes, hand cycling. While at the range, the gremlin occurred far too often. I'd say around once for every 10 rounds fired. When I replaced my OOW disconnector with a Czech disconnector, hand cycling felt noticeably smoother and the dead trigger at the range never occurred. I fired at least 100 rounds without a problem. I'm sure that I would have inevitably experienced the gremlin with the Czech disconnector. After all, the tab serves a purpose. But replacing my OOW disconnector absolutely, positively made a difference. The disconnector is most certainly a factor.

I would have to agree. Even with a tabbed carrier I was experiencing a gremlin. Tried out my disconnector was bent causing it to sit lower than it should. New disconnector and I haven't had any issues yet

Did you guys have fun driving that roll pin out of the receiver?

The post above is opinion, and I am probably totally wrong, so please pardon me if I offend anyone in any way. I am speaking only for myself and just sharing my thoughts, not trying to start an argument with anyone, and if you disagree with anything I have said, I concede your correct.

I don't remember having any issue with mine. I took my trigger out 3 or 4 times to examine the disconnector and try and fix it before I finally just replaced it. The pin holding the disconnector in was a pain to reinsert though
