First I couldn't get the magazine seated from having taken it apart to tune the trigger.  Good thing I brought some tools.  Loosened the screws, put the mag in, tightened them.  Shot 5 rounds and tightened them again. Spent some time fooling around at 40 yards with Winchester bulk 55g FMJ dialing in the scope since I didn't boresight it.    Then I moved the target out to 100 yards and did some more tweaking.  Pretty much spraying bullets around in 5 inch patterns, mostly me getting used to shooting/trigger control after many years away and probably indifferent ammo quality.  When I thought it was close I switched to some Black Hills 50g Hornady VMax reloads and tried to get serious using the set trigger.  Front of the rifle on a sandbag, back of the rifle on me.  I got the first group here measured at .77.  A couple of clicks on the scope dials and then shot the second group measure at .90. Both shot with a warm barrel.   I am quite sure some of that variation is me.  This rifle really shoots.   I then tried some 55g Winchester Varmint Extreme and factory Hornady 55g VMax and didn't do better, maybe worse, hard to tell as I was getting tired.  The Black Hills reman stuff shot really well and is fairly inexpensive too.   Those big holes in the target are from me trying to get consistent with the peep sight on my Henry .44 mag.  BTW the factory target included with the gun was a little over 2 inches at 50 meters.  Meant nothing except to prove that it functioned.

Nice to hear of another American in .223 cal.

Which Leupold scope is that?

Is 100 yards going to be your 'Zero' point of yours?

It's a VX3i 3.5-10 x 40 CDS.   I don't have a good place to go to zero it at 200 so it sent off for the CDS dial for the Black Hills load at a 100 yd zero.  Theoretically then I can just twist the knob and shoot to point of aim out to any practical range for this round.

Congrats on your .223 CZ 527 and nice shooting. The .223 527 Carbine produces very nice results too. This is a five shot group (dime for reference) at 100 yards. Rounds were fired off a front sandbag shooting 55 gr remanufactured soft point ammo using a single shot adapter and a 3-9x32mm scope with adjustable objective. Called the flyer - old man's twitch.  :o

These things are shooters for sure.  Nicely done.  I am quite sure some of my variance was me and I am very happy with the gun.  It's a sweet little rifle.

So I did the same adjusting the trigger. Now the magazine release is very stiff. Was the fix to put the magazine in and then tighten the screws?

In response to your CZ 527 magazine release lever being difficult to work/ fit, following initial re-assembly of your rifle--  here is what
happened to me:

I disassembled my new 527 Euro-Varmint to do a better job of free floating the barrel.  After doing this and re-sealing the stock,
I went to work on re-assembly of my rifle.  I have been a target shooter since the 1960's.  I have owned and worked on more bolt action rifles that I can
count.  However, this particular CZ just resisted re-assembly.  Looking at it carefully told me that the magazine sheath, which is attached to the trigger
guard was not re-mating correctly with the bottom of the receiver.  This resulted in the magazine lever not precisely matching up with the slot in the
rifle's magazine.  Well, after a lot of thinking about it, I lightly beveled the magazine sheath and applied a thin coat of oil to the edge of the magazine sheath
and the bottom of the rifle's receiver, where the two parts match up.  After some tight gripping and positioning of the parts, they snapped together the way they
should.  The magazine release lever then worked correctly and easily.

Hope I explained this well.  Not saying this was what happened to your 527, but it sure was a headache for me.
Dave

rwortman or others, I wonder how the CZ 527 American stock (comb) feels regarding height with a scope.  A friend of mine would probably ask about rings used but he is not on CZ forum(s).

It feels just about perfect to me.   The stock is designed for use with a scope, hence the lack of iron sights.   The receiver is machined for 16mm dovetail rings.   The rifle comes with a set of CZ rings and that is what I used.  There are a couple of aftermarket companies making rings in that size as well.
