Do I want a 455 .22LR? Found a clean one used.
« on: August 28, 2016, 10:38:39 PM »
Hi All, I came across this 455 in .22LR. It was traded in at a LGS that I frequent. The owner says it is "pristine". Coming from him, that means just shy of n.i.b. My daughter currently has a Cricket, and I have a 10/22 I'm saving for her, but a CZ is always my preference. Other than a VZ24, I haven't owned any CZ rifles. I've done a bit of googling, and 452's seem to be preferred over 455's. So, should I buy it, and what is a fair price? -Thanks

CZ rimfires should be classified as an addictive substance. Hard to just have one.

I have 452 models, but wouldn't pass on a 455. If the price was right.

We have (2) 452 Scouts, a 455 UltraLux, and a 512.  Like AZ_CZ said, they are addictive!

As far as quality goes, the 452's had better polishing on the metal work, but I certainly don't feel handicapped with my 455!

Top of my head, would say $325 would be a pretty good price, maybe even $350 if it's really nearly NIB. Others here could probably give you more up to date idea, though.

Thanks for the replies. Didn't make it by today, I'll see if it's still there Wednesday.

In a word, yes.

I have a 455 American and love it.

And a 452 Trainer (love the sights), a new 527 Carbine in 223 and am looking for a 550 in 30-06 ;)

I ended up passing on it. He was asking $400. It hasn't sold yet, might make an offer if it's still around after a while.

I would also hold out for a 452 myself. From what I've read, the 455s are hit or miss, although they are easier to rechamber in other calibers with a barrel change if that's something you are after.

I picked up a 455 American with a Nikon prostaff scope and I was amazed at how accurately it shoots with bulk federal automatch. Ordered some sk rifle plus to see how tight of a group I can get.
