Small Vz58 Stock
« on: September 01, 2016, 08:31:30 AM »
Ahoj ,

I recently took advantage of some spare time to visit the Czech gun dealer that supplies us with ammo. He confirmed getting hold of Vz58 is getting increasingly difficult. Stocks are low and Vz58 are getting scare, however, there are still some around...

the Vz61 on the otherhand are still plentyfull

some nice Vz59 are also available

Can a citizen buy a fully automatic weapon over there? I assume these are all full-auto or select fire.

If so, what sort of hoops would hd have to jump through to get one.

Most of this stock (there are 20K guns on site) is restricted for approved Governemental contracts. However, some of it will be converted to Semi-auto for the civilian mkt , which is only a tiny part of this Cie business.

In theorie,  yes , a Czech citizen can own a Cat A full-auto gun .  It will have to be stored in a "safe room" not a safe cabinet. It is subject to a "case by Case" approval by the police.  In practice,  it is very difficult and some police authorities, such as Prague's one, nearly always decline such application.

The problem of dwindling stocks is exacerbated by the fact that some dealers are reluctant to stock VZ 58s after the recent EU legislation prohibiting the sale of firearms converted from full auto into semi. This has not been ratified by member states yet, but dealerships are worried that they will be left with large stocks of these weapons if their government decided to enforce this French socialist created nonsense.

Same in Belgium, a guncollector can own a full-auto stored in a "safe room" and can shoot full-auto (check operation) with 3 bullets
