P-01 Omega...
« on: September 03, 2016, 06:26:56 PM »
Been on the look out just as I think many people have.  Was fortunate enough yesterday to find one finally.  Should be here by end of next week.  Excited to get this one for sure.

Question I wanted to ask, has anyone installed the CGW Omega upgrade kit on there Omega?  Curious to the final feel after that work if anyone has experience with one, thanks.

Will post some pics of the Omega when it comes in!

Congrats on the find.  I have been looking high and low for either a compact or omega and have found neither.  Glad a board member got it.  Sorry I cant help you on the upgrade unless you want to sell me yours lol.

I recently got an omega, love the feel. It shot well for me, but decided to give Dave a chance to work his magic, so it's in Cajun country waiting its turn on his bench. The anticipation is killing me ;D

Guess I'll have to make do with my P09
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

Bapple, I put the CGW kit in mine.  I did shoot it stock.  The DA was real stacky and heavy although the SA was pretty darn good.  I shot the stock gun very well.  But, as I already had the kit, I went ahead and installed it, at least everything except for the TRS.  I didn't pull the trigger, remove or polish the trigger bar, or tweak the trigger bar spring.  I did a bit of polishing to the sides of the new, hammer sear, and disconnector and I did some polishing of the pins and FPB parts.

The new trigger is a lot nicer than stock.  The SA is a lighter than stock and very crisp and clean.  The reset is omproved, if not as nice as a tweaked shadow with aftermarket disconnector.  The DA is lighter and smoother than stock but still somewhat stacky.  I may do a phase 2 and pull and polish the trigger bar and tweak the trigger bar spring.  I may also try the CGW TRS although I tend to favor the stock TRS because of the slightly more positive reset function.  I also blacked out the white dots on the rear sight and put in a 1mm FO front sight.  Finally, I put in the safeties.

I like this pistol a lot.  The trigger may not be as nice as on my CZC tweaked compact but there is something about the weight and balance of the pistol that makes it feel exceptional.

P-01 Omega came in today.  Snapped a few pictures.  Threw the SDP in there for comparison also.  SA trigger isnt too bad, room for improvement for sure.  DA is heavy and stacks quite a bit.  I will calling CGW for a full package.  Gotta have the best  ;D

I have a sphinx subcompact.  The stock P 01 omega trigger felt pretty similar to the trigger on the sphinx.  With CGW parts, the P 01 trigger is quite a bit better than the sphinx trigger.

Agreed with twowheels.  Both DA pulls are pretty heavy.  SDP is a little smoother DA pull.  Both feel really nice SA for sure, with again I think the SDP is still smoother SA also.  I am sure when I get the CGW package installed, it will be a different story.  I have heard you can switch the hammer spring in the SDP to lessen the DA pull.  Ill have to do more research on that.

All in all, the P-01 Omega is impressive for sure.  Can't wait to get some rounds downrange.

I will add that I think the decocker function on the sphinx is nicer than on the p 01.  I ride my safeties and carry that habit over to the decocker pistols.  There is a lot of backlash in the p 01 decocker that is absent from the sphinx.  But because I have safeties on my p 01, it is a non issue.

Very nice P01 and P01 Omega.

I hope you don't mind me asking this question as I am new to CZ and picked up several CZs (P07 Urban Grey, PCR and Compact pic below)

When I bought the Compact the seller stated it's basically the P01.  In looking at the picture above and mine below.  They look the same.  Are there any differences? Only thing I can tell are the markings.

After posting the reply and looking at the seller's ad it stated "THIS IS IDENTICAL TO THE CZ PO1 91199 BUT WITH A CZ COMPACT 75 D SLIDE."  Think i answered my own question?

Thanks!

Here is my Compact.  Replaced the rod with Stainless Steel and LOK Grips!

Body and slide are identical, but the stock sights on the omega and hammer are different.  So is your decocker as well.

I don't believe the bodies are identical. The rear of the trigger guard is more flat and less of a oval shape on the P-01 omega vs other P-01's and the P-02. Also, there seems to be a new finger relief area on the back of the trigger guard where the trigger finger would fit in. This seems to be the recesses allowed for the new trigger. I wish I had noticed this before ordering my P-07 gen 2 trigger for my P-02, but oh well. I am sure one of my friends would like it for their 07/09.
snakeye, no worries, I don't need someone in a leotard. :)

You know, I just finished cajunization my p01 and after doing so, I wish t had been an omega. My p09 was so much easier to work on.
