So.... does anyone have a line on a Scorp barrel? I have been trying to get in contact with CZ USA but no response. I will have that K set up.

If you're looking for cz usa to make a shorter barrel than their standard pistol length to support an aftermarket product...forget about it. You're better off sending your own barrel to get snipped and circumcised. HBI had a spec sheet for the pistol length barrel dimensions recommended for their k stock. It's a pdf file floating around somewhere in cyberspace.  HBI themselves said they may produce the barrels if there is a demand.

CZ USA is so concentrated on get a scorpion in everyone's hands, that there really isn't priority for spare parts at this time. Especially major parts such as the barrel since this is the one piece that takes the most amount of time to produce for the entire firearm.

You could go to the classified section here and ask if anyone who has installed a cz custom barrel is willing to part with their factory barrel.

Here's the k barrel specs:

HBI sent me a link to their spec sheet through FB and I have been on the hunt ever since. I have contacted CZ USA about barrels and information on high wear parts as well as other things but NO response to any of my emails. I'd much rather buy another barrel and get it cut down or buy a barrel that's cut already than cut the barrel I already have. Again, I will have that K set up, now to find the bleep parts to do it.

John,

Thanks for the link. Now to find someone who can cut and thread it for me.

Any update on this? Several people are running the CZ carbine hand guards on the pistols and having a good time. I want to wait for HBi's.

After measuring my tube, looks like neither the hbi nor the carbine handguard will work for me unfortunately.  My tube is 1.62" OD.

Of the two, I was preferring the hbi due to the way it mounted and not having to purchase a separate carbine handguard nut tool, which increased the cost of the handguard to around $175 or so.

I think there should be a "pay it forward" type of program for the carbine nut tool. Similar to the trigger pack weld drill bit program sponsored by HBI

^ Awesome ideas right there. We will make some tools available here on the forum in a couple weeks. Our target release date for the handguards (all sizes) is still the first/second week of November. Our mills are running at capacity right now banging out the machined handguards and trunnion mounts, but we still have to send everything outside for anodizing. If ano goes quick we will have them the first week of Nov, if they take longer it could be the second week.

Picture to spice this thread up!

So this will not use the nut that the factory handguard uses?  This will completely free float the barrel?

Would you say it's safe to send my barrel out now for k modifications so it's ready when your k handguard is released?

Was planning on sending it to ADCO with your blueprints...

Oh I'm excited! I need that carbine version. My stamp for suppressor AND the SBR should be in any day now. It's been over 6 months!

Would using this handguard preclude installing the barrel cooler from the A1 variant?

you can still use the barrel cooler, but you'll have to use your barrel nut and possibly a spacer to keep it snug.  the HBI handguard mounts solely to the front trunnion which means no more need for the barrel nut, except to keep a barrel cooler on the barrel

I doubt you'll be able to install the cooler with the handguard mount being around the barrel at the trunnion. You'd have to chop off the end of the cooler at least.

Aww man.  Russ is correct.  The barrel cooler slips over the barrel trunion.  It'll require modification.  Ugh

for anyone trying to get their barrel nut off of their carbine this is what I came up with.

21mm socket $6 https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-1-2-in-Drive-21mm-Deep-12-Point-Metric-Socket/3387198
Iron pipe $8.50 https://www.lowes.com/pd/Southland-Pipe-1-in-x-1-1-2-ft-150-PSI-Black-Iron-Pipe/3373202
Loctite metal $5 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Loctite-0-85-fl-oz-Metal-and-Concrete-Epoxy-Syringe-1919325/205361758

Cut your socket in half using a grinder cutoff wheel or a hacksaw if you've got some spare time
loctite the socket to either end of your pipe, let it set for 24 hours and your good to go.

Now I'm just waiting on the forum 1 to come back and HBI to start selling handguards.
