Pictures and range report thread.
Bought it on Gunbroker.com-factory new, which means that it was "thick" with preservatives in a plastic bag.
After cleaning, I greased the slide with CGW Super Slick slide grease and took it to the range.
I had never shot a 1911 let alone a 10mm before, but it was quite manageable.
Accuracy is good due to the 6.3" barrel with a long sight picture--front site is tritium/green fiber optic, rear is tritium white dot and adjustable.

Notice that the case that it comes in has an indention for TWO (2) magazines, but due to the slide length, you can't use it to keep a mag in.

The barrel bushing didn't want to come out when I first cleaned it (even with repeated "tapping"!), so I worked a little CGW Super Slick slide grease into the bushing and after the first range visit it came out without any problem.

A question for all you 10mm shooters...I saw on a MAC (Military Arms Channel) video that you can shoot 40 S&W out of a 10mm?

Has anyone done that with theirs? 

Is there a downside to this like there is with the DW .357 magnum revolvers when you shoot both .357 magnum and 38 special?

A follow-up note...

The magazines have a thick rubber "boot" on them which protrudes out in front of the grip.  Not that it's a problem but it seems so out-of-place on such a well-put-together gun.

You'll also notice the fine ribbing on the grip front and back straps.  The back one feels like the skin of a horn toad (all you Texans will know what I mean).

I can't speak to your specific pistol, but I have shot 40S&W out of a Glock 20 with only a few problems. Just remember the round will head space on the extractor. The Glock cycled fine with 180gr ammo but didn't always cycle with 165gr and lighter bullet ammo.

The longer and heavier slide on your Bruin may not work.

That's one nice looking pistol.

Is the burnt bronze a cerakote, or a proper surface treatment like the duty finish?

Those look like Wilson mags. I have some of those as well as some checkmates. The Wilson's are ugly, but they run perfectly and I find that I use them more often than the checkmates.

I don't know if I'm qualified to tell the difference between a Cerakote and a factory duty finish.  It looks a lot like the factory finish on my Sig P226 Legion, so I would guess factory.

Yeah, me too. I like that better than the Colt Delta Elite I've been looking at... except I'd still want the Colt if I got one of these first. There's no end to my want list!  ::)


Almost bought a EAA Witness 10mm with a 6" barrel, over priced, at Gander but resisted the urge.


BTW, NICE looking pistol!

Man these bruins look awesome!  But I haven't shot my .45 specialist nearly enough.  I already have way more guns than I have time to shoot!  The shadow gets 75% of the work, or more.

Congrats on the Bruin in bronze! They are sharp. I found one in .45 (not bronze) and had to grab it. I often wonder what it is like in 10mm.

I'd love to have one of these but can't stomach the price at the moment.  Darn kids expect to be fed and clothed for some reason...

I've got a kimber 10mm but have not crossed to loading 10mm yet. Just shoot it sparingly with the sig ammo which is warmish
