P-07 gritty, draggy SA.
« on: September 11, 2016, 08:46:10 PM »
What is best done to fix a hangy, gritty SA. I really do not like the trigger in this gun, but I know it can be better.

Im ok with the reset - I was looking at CGW parts, but dont think I need the reset kit.

I need it to be carry reliable. Is the hammer what needs replacing then polishing done? Springs?

The hammer is the key element, I personally would not do that only, without doing all the other stuff in the pro upgrade kit first, as well as installing a lighter recoil spring and guide rod, but that is me.

Sorry yours is rough, mine was not, so I only needed the other stuff, as the lighter springs and such make the gun much nicer to shoot.

I had two P-09s that had pretty good SA feel when new, and I expected the same from a P-07 when I bought one for a carry gun early this year.  My experience was just like yours, however, not bad in DA, but too gritty in SA.  But it was a carry gun, so all I did was put in the CGW hammer and the CGW heavy sear spring.  I also put in a 17# hammer spring, I think.  Used the stock recoil spring and I skipped the short reset kit.  The hammer was the key.  The SA pull is still heavy enough for a carry gun, in my opinion, but I can let the shot off without thinking someone put skateboard tape on my sear.

The trigger was good enough after the hammer swap that I put a red dot on the gun from my 75B temporarily and shot the May local bullseye match with it and had high score in centerfire with the carry gun.  Really ticked off some 1911 guys (that don't practice as much as I do).

Yeah it's pretty bad.

I bought an sp01 the same day. Great trigger out of the box.

I expected the p07 to be like my usp's. I would have been happy if it was.

It wasnt. Its the worst da/sa trigger ive felt on a new gun.

For $450 though, it's still a good deal with the 17rd mags, ns and threaded barrel.

I just don't think I need the $75 reset kit. The reset doesnt bother me.

My P-07 which is my EDC, I took apart, sanded and polished all the internal metal to metal contact points and thoroughly Lubed,
changed the hammer spring and firing pin spring ,from CGW. DA is 8.5# pull ,not too stiff but very smooth , but the SA is 4# like butter.smoooooth  :)

Based on what you want, I'd say pick up the CGW hammer, and polish the necessary internals to a chrome finish.  Took me about an hour, but I did everything by hand.
Pretty much a CZ fanboy.

Borsig, did you smooth everything out on your po7, or just not touch it yet?
If its  going to be your  EDC ,, do as I suggested with the hammer spring, and firing pin spring and polish everything you'll love it. My DA is nice and the SA is like butter...If you want to race / comp gun put all the other parts in it.JMHO
