That's a great find.  I would have loved to have been able to bid on it but money is tight right now.  I've dumped too much money on the last two projects.  ;D

I picked this gun up today and it gets stranger. A round trigger guard gun with the old type pre-B safety with the detent in the safety lever that will drop free any magazine I have, Mec-Gars or OEM CZ 18 round mags fall right out. There are no wear marks on the barrel, slide or inside the frame, not even the bright white dot on the hammer where it meets the firing pin. I cannot see in a single place any evidence this gun has ever fired a round. It is as clean as a new gun on the inside and out of all of them I have purchased this year this is the only one that won't need any cleaning before it is used. I am headed out to buy a lottery ticket.

Evapo-Rust will quickly remove Parkerizing or Phosphate finishes like magic.

What finish are you planning for this one? Does it have the heavy sand blasted profile from the phosphate finish or was it just phosphate under a factory coating?

Just smooth white steel. Evapo-Rust removed all the phosphate right down to the bare metal. Most likely I will rust blue it. This gun had the parkerized finish or what they call Phosphated brownish/gray finish on it. Very ugly and had some rust.

It was in amongst the other Pre-B's on Gun Broker. I guess no one noticed it as no one placed a bid on it.

Of course the first thing that must go is that irritating beaver tail sharp corner.

So, I decided to do some rust bluing this weekend on my new Roscoe. Only problem there is no humidity outside to make the red rust magic....what to do....I put 2.5 gallons of distilled water on the stove in a stainless pot and hung all my parts on the exhaust hood and created enough steam to make rust every 2 hours just like when it was hot and humid outside. So far today this has worked great. The Wife doesn't mind because it does not produce any smell or make a mess on her stove. I should finish this gun up by 10PM tonight.

Same thing here, low humidity. I partially filled a bathtub with hot water and hung a couple frames from the curtain rod and shut the door. 2 hours later and probably the best coat of rust I've seen yet, especially considering 1 frame is on the 4th go round and the other on its 6th. I've been boiling on my wife's stove, but hanging parts would be deemed over the line I'm afraid. She didn't notice the parts in the bathroom until I was ready to boil.  O0

Finished it up today and getting ready to head out back and try out the new sights. I put on the  competition low mount sights from Dawson Precision and they are ultra low. The sight picture looks the same as any of the regular competition sights but I had to remove a lot of metal to get the rear of the sight into the slide. The sight dovetail on this slide is a lot deeper than most.
