Change some springs and stuff and run it in. Then decide.

Gratz on the new CZ. Much like the 75 i do not feel that the beauty of the platform is found in its stock configuration. May the 09 treat you well.

I must have got lucky, DA in my is barely gritty, just a little notchy throughout the pull. SA, creeps then breaks before you know it. I put a little over 100 rounds through mine in less than an hour and need to go back Sunday to shoot it again.

I had the same problem with a new P-07.  I bought the CGW hammer only and put a 17# hammer spring in it and it is perfect now.  I would try that first, that will cut your cost in half compared to the full kit.  I can't remember for sure, but I think I put the heavier sear spring in mine also when I put the hammer in.  End result was excellent, so good that I skipped the rest of the kit on that particular pistol.  Polishing everything else will help, but the CGW hammer is the key to the gritty SA pull, and the 17# hammer spring will lighten up the DA pull a little.

I've had two P series guns that did NOT have as gritty a trigger as the latest one.  I think there is some variation in the parts.  If you contact CZ, they will probably tell you to let it wear in a little.  I'm too impatient for that, so I chose to replace the hammer instead.  I don't know if they would actually repair a gritty hammer on warranty, probably not.  Keep in mind that many people that buy the polymer guns may not have a "good" gun to compare it to and may not even think the trigger is excessively gritty.  I can't stand the triggers on most production guns after thousands of rounds through guns with aftermarket or reworked parts!

My P07 Duty pull has smoothed out after a 10k rounds but it also has CGW guts and the stock hammer. On the flip side, My P09 trigger was initially horrible. However after 5k+ rounds through it, it is finally feeling better. CGW guts and hammer did wonders.

You bought a Cadillac(SP01) first and now a Chevy(P09). Two different guns.

Don't give up on it. Change some parts and shoot it. You will find it will settle down.

I purchased an SP01 Tac after my two P pistols and it is different beast.

Good luck.

I'm probably gonna do what I did with my SP-01 and shoot it...a lot!  The trigger will surely break in some as it did with the SP-01. Down the road I may throw the CGW parts in it. I'm a big believer in their stuff!  I fed every type of ammo thru it at the range yesterday and it runs like a Swiss clock. Feeds anything you give it and ejects cases in a neat little pile. I hate to mess with that kind of performance just to get rid of some grit that will probably all but disappear with tons of use!  Incidentally CZ-USA offered to let me send it in. They said if it's out of "spec" they can maybe smooth it out some.

As for comparison to the SP-01 I'm almost more excited about this P-09!  I like the smaller front sight, while still having night sights. Love the 21 round mags (these mags are way better than the factory SP -01 mags), the threaded barrel (may consider a suppressor) and it just looks badass. How long do you think before one of these "urban grey" CZs shows up in a Hollywood movie???  They sure look cool (IMO). As soon as everyone sees Bruce Willis or Matt Damon running around with one you won't be able to find em anywhere!

My advice, follow the link above to see what needs a little polishing, bend the trigger bar spring down a little, get a 13lb hammer spring, extended FP, CGW hammer, and shoot the snot out of it.

You may want to go ahead and adjust your trigger bar spring. It comes over sprung from the factory.

Polish the internals change the hammer spring and firing pin spring and then see what you got.

My P-09 is butter smooth.  I installed the extended firing pin and lighter hammer spring, did a little light stoning of the internals and bent down the trigger bar spring a little.

Without spending a lot, you can really tune the Omega triggers.  Do some reading here and give it a shot.  You have nothing to lose and a ton to gain.

Of my four CZ 9mm's, I think my P-09 is my favorite and best shooting.  It's a close second to my SP-01 Tactical and I actually think the trigger is better.  My Tactical is pretty much stock, other than a light stone on the sear.

Give it a chance!!

Oh I most definitely will!  It's a great shooter. I've had it to the range twice now and have put several hundred rounds through it!  I intend to at least surpass 1000 rounds before I make any decisions on CGW parts. Wont take long as I can't seem to stop shooting this gun. It's even more fun than my SP-01!

I just put CGW short reset kit and comp hammer in my 200 rds old P09 (just a habit I don't monkey with new guns until I can prove they function first  ;)).  So far just from  dry firing, the hammer is worth every penny!  The short reset isn't something I can evaluate until real test at the range.  I also replaced the trigger return spring and it improved the action quite a bit since I don't have to fight that heavy return spring.  Next up after range test would lighter hammer spring to go with the extended firing pin.

BTW, if you decide to do the CGW kit, watch out for the left safety detent while disassembling the gun, it is a PITA to find if inadvertently launched.  Also, the safety shaft most likely will need some fitting to the sear after new hammer installation (found out after I had trouble engaging the safety on cocked hammer condition).
