Left hand CZ?
« on: October 01, 2016, 09:12:00 PM »
I am looking to get myself a nice .22LR left hand CZ rifle.
I am going back and forth between the 452 and the 452 LUX.
As far as I can tell, the LUX comes with a nicer stock and iron sights.
Any other differences?
Is there a "better" model than the 452?
If the trigger isn't great, how hard/expensive is it to get a nice trigger?
I'm also considering having the muzzle threaded for my Sparrow. Not sure if that makes a big difference.
Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Are you in the US? The only LH model rimfire currently available here is the 452 American. The Lux was available in the past in LH but has been discontinued.

You can modify the stock trigger, or both Timney and Rifle Basix offer replacements. I've just lightened the spring on mine and am very happy with it.

Unless you've found a LH Lux hiding in a gun shop I think the American is really your only choice.

Okay.
Do you have any input to my questions?

I answered most of  them in my first reply I thought.

A YoDave kit is ~$20. Replacement triggers are closer to $75-$100

The 455 isn't available in LH.

As far as having it threaded, lots of people do. If you have an American threaded you'd most likely want to shorten the barrel a bit at the same time. If you did find a LH Lux you'd lose the front sight by threading.

Buds lists the Lux as in stock. I just bought one, but wanted to verify any concerns before buying. I didn't want to advertise the source in case there was a limited stock.

Go for the 452 lux while it lasts. CZ launched the 455 and will stop production of the 452.
Buy a 452 stock too to have. They are now at 1/3 of the price in the us shop of CZ.

See mine with a Nikon P Rimfire 2-7X32 BDC scope and a recent target shot at 100 meters

Nice find!

SWeveral large US online sellers have found a way to get CZ to cough up discontinued models by buying several hundred at a time. Some are actually new manufacture, and others are stock that didn't sell eleswhere.

Enjoy your rifle!

Any recommendations on a good gun smith that move the sight back and thread the barrel?

If you look closely at the sight when you receive the rifle, you'll see that the front sight is actually a band style arrangement shrunk onto the barrel. Moving that one back might be tough as it requires the od of the barrel to be turned, possibly to a diameter that would make threading impossible.

It might be possible to add a different front sight like the one used on the 455 model, which is fastened by a screw.

The only person I know that I'd recommend is a member on RFC that goes by the screen name of djdilliodon. He just posted the other day that he was booked very far into the future. Sorry, I have no one else.

I contacted tornado tech and they will thread the muzzle and mill the end off the front sight. Not sure if that's a good choice or not.
