Need some help.
« on: October 08, 2016, 11:55:36 PM »
Hello all, I am new to the scene and need some help.

I'm planning to SBR an EVO.  I bought a 922r kit from midway usa before I even bought the pistol.  Reason is b/c I hear people are scooping them up very fast.

Anyways, for anyone that has bought the 922r kit and has the newer model of the EVO with the 1/2 x 28 thread, will the compensatory that comes with the pistol be a US part.  Also will the compensatory that comes with the 922r kit fit the 1/2 x 28 thread just in case the stock comp is not a US part?

I'll most likely get a can anyways but just wondering.

The latest gen scorpion has both metric and standard threads, at least mine does.

ETA:  the word is "compensator" when describing certain muzzle devices.   ;)

Ah ok  Thanks.  I guess I won't buy any accessories yet until I get the pistol.  I've just been eager to get started lol.

The new scorpions have the 1/2x28 thread on the very end covered by a thread protector. Behind that it's necked up to the 18x1 threads and the standard comp fits over top of the 1/2x28 and threads onto the 18x1 so the one that came with the 922r kit should fit fine.

I did something similar.  I picked up the 922r kit and the pistol at the same time (storing the stock at a friends house while waiting on the stamp.)  but my 922 flash hider is DEFINITELY not the same thread as the factory one.  The 1/2x28 is fine but the other threads do not match and it will not install.

Its not big deal for me as I am tossing mine for a 3-lug adapter, but I thought it was worth mentioning.  Pistol was purchased in September.
