Both shoot great.  I like the PCR better for carry, just a little slimmer.  I like the P-01 as a house and truck gun.  Both are good at the range or most other places.

PCR vs P-01
CZ75 D (PCR): - Short dustcover, aluminum frame
                       - LCI,
                       - No snag rear sight (Unique rear sight cut, leaves a uncovered step in the top of the slide in front of many sight options)
                       - CZ75 style slide release (shorter, similar to the CZ75 slide release but not the same)
                       - Serrated Trigger (standard trigger profile w/ serrations unique to the PCR)
                       - Standard slide release hole

CZP-01: - Full length dustcover aluminum frame w/ tac rail,
                         - Standard CZ rear sight (Standard rear sight cut)
                         - SP-01 Style Slide release (longer, similar to the SP-01 slide release but not the same)
                         - Black recurve trigger (same as the stock SP-01/97BD trigger)
                         - Recessed slide release hole

Both of the above models come with rubber grips, grip frame serrations, Ambi (swappable) mag releases, left side only decocking levers and lanyard loop main spring plugs.

I do not believe you can go wrong with either model. The PCR sights and sight cut was one of the more common gripes of PCR owners. CZ Custom came out with sights dedicated to the PCRs unique sight cut a while back and remedied this in my opinion. For me it came down to a lack of need for the tac rail so i went with a PCR. I also prefer the trigger on the PCR, the serrations bother some folks but i like them.

I would suggest handling both models if possible.

Yes the PCR is better for carry. It is a bit smaller in some its dimensions and a bit lighter. Those little bits can be felt during carry.

If I'll only have one gun, I'll choose the P-01. Good for home defense with those rails, good for carry, SHTF ready IMO, and fun on the range. The PCR are all of those too, but it lacks the rails for both tactical and practical purposes.

But I have other guns, and I need a little more comfort for carry so I chose the PCR. And the way the PCR looks sealed the deal for me.  :)

I too battled this issue and decided on the PCR as it will primarily be used for carrying and I wanted as slim a profile as I could get.

Yes the P01 can mount a light and the rail may decrease muzzle rise somewhat.  I'm not a fan of a light mounted to my handguns, just a personal preference after reading studies and observations by guys who know way more than me. Again it's just a personal preference, as others have already said try and decide what your going to do with the gun more: home defense with a mounted light, or concealed carry?

Either advantage offered by either gun can be more than made up for by training I think.

I got a PCR first from CGW, then I found myself wanting a P01 too. So now I am getting ready to install a PRO package in it as soon as David gets the next batch of bushings in so I can order one. If I have to wait any longer than next week I may just get one of his bright ones.

I was never a fan of light-compatible pistols until recently. In the past year, work required me to make frequent 10 hour drives and I prefer to travel at night. I discovered the advantages of having my carry gun equipped with a light when in the vehicle or on the nightstand where I stay. The dazzling white light has its advantages but my need for one hand operation when seated in a vehicle requires it to be on the pistol.  It's a simple matter to remove the light when I am on foot and carrying concealed. I have a hard time carrying comfortably with the light mounted with most pistols, the SA XDS being an exception.

For these reasons, I prefer the P-01 (or most recently, a P-07) when I'm travelling. As others said, the PCR feels livelier in hand due, I suspect, to the more svelte muzzle profile and lighter weight. Both are very accurate and have been very reliable for me. Personally, if I did not plan on ever using the rail I would go with the PCR.

You can't lose either way.

I'm in the no rail camp.  A light just makes you an easier target and more weight to sling around.  I have carried the PCR for a couple of years.   It is probably the finest weapon, I have ever own outside of my early Walthers, also my 75 BD Police, and my 75B.

I ordered a PCR (over a P-01) for the very lame reason that a short dust cover looks better to me, and, as well, I prefer a 75 over an SP-01.  I'll never use the rail, so it's all about aesthetics for me. I guess I just like curves!

I actually like the 75 Compact best if it were to be included.

I'd say go with whichever you can find.  Nothing wrong with either one other than sometimes being hard to get.  I have and like the P-01.  It carries fine and I prefer the trigger and slide stop.  The reach for both felt better in my hands than the PCR by a small margin.

I prefer the P01 myself, but one should have both!

I have owned and carried a PCR since 2000.  The model had not been out long, so at the time the P-01 was not yet available.  I would have chose the PCR anyway, as I also don't like rails on guns, and have no desire to mount a light on one.  The PCR and P-01 are fantastic pistols.  Go with what your gut tells you.  My PCR has been 100% reliable, and is very accurate.

Has the PCR always had the 75B style slide release? My PCR with a 2014 assembly date has the SP-01 style release.
