Congrats! Shot mine today and I am still blown away by how comfortable they are and how well they handle recoil. Shot a Ruger SR9c for 5 rounds at the end (a friend's pistol) and I was a mess with it after shooting my CZ's. Just remember to clean off all the grease (cosmoline?) that it ships with. Especially get it out of the magazines.

It's just packing grease. nothing fancy. Cosmoline is another level of pure and utter hell to get out and you'd KNOW if you got cosmoline in your gun

I've gotten a couple questions about tools to use for pistol smithing CZ's in the last few days. I posted a thread with what I use, what I know is out there, and asked others to chime in as well. Hope this helps anyone looking to do some of their own polishing and upgrades.

Oh cool, good to know! I had heard something like that but wasn't sure as I haven't knowingly dealt with cosmoline.

you'll KNOW if you run into cosmoline. people like to use the term for long term storage grease for guns that come over seas, but cosmoline is a whole different beast. it's almost as thick as gelatin and it's EVIL to get off. if you can wipe it off with some gun solvent then it ain't the real thing. real comsoline takes hours of scrubbing or else baking it off since it's meant for like 50 years of storage. great stuff, but a BEOTCH to work with

Yep, cleaned it up before shooting.

So couple of questions, I read about 40ish of the pages and probably missed it.

The P-01 slide stop - how much shorter is it? I'd like mine to be shorter (don't hear that very often....) but at $40 not sure it's worth it

Holster suggestions? I prefer OWB

Thanks!

Here are a few comparison pics from and SP-01 slide stop (same external lever profile as the CZ P-01) and an CZ 85B slide stop (same external lever profile as the SP-01 Compact). They are pricey but it is not a bad idea to have a back up slide stop on hand.

Thanks for the pics. I thought the P-01 was slightly shorter and would protrude less but from those pics they look to be about the same?

I think what you gain from the P-01 style slide stop is the length, so that it is easier to hit with your thumb. Not an issue if you can comfortably reach the factory slide stop. Looks are another factor, when i fist got into CZs i picked up an SP-01 slide stop for my CZ75BD because i though it looked cool.

are you talking about protruding from the right side of the gun? like the shaft that seems to stick out on the SP-01 compact? if so, yes it's nearly flush instead of sticking out

anyone notice the depth of rifling in the barrel? mine looks a little bit superficial, i'm not sure how it is supposed to be from factory, but i have noticed the rifling on my other pistols has been a bit deeper.

I told my buddy who works at my LGS about these things. They had five show up today. He's buying one so they have four left. Any guys in the Des Moines, Iowa area the shop is JT's and is on Merle Hay Road. They put them on their Facebook page so they'll probably go quick. Lot of CZ nuts around here, including myself.

Funny how this rare batch of CZs seem to be the ONLY steel compacts available!  Hopefully a rare of late batch of traditional compacts will become available coincident with excess cash in my wallet!  Especially if they make it stainless -- I'll take out a second mortgage, LOL.
