Convert 40S&W P09 to .357sig

I did a search and it came back with nothing.

I am seriously thinking about the .357sig again. I know it is 100% emotional, that goes back to my youth when I carried a 6" .357 Cougar (Ruger security 6 with Colt Python barrel) as my carry gun when I was a deputy.

Has anyone done this?

I've wanted the same thing.  Just too much other stuff taking up my money.  I've got a P09 in .40 S&W that doesn't compare to my .40 P07 accuracy wise and would be a perfect conversion gun.  I've just got to set the money aside.

On several forums there are people who poopoo the .357 SIG.  They say the velocity difference between it and the 9MM doesn't warrant spending money on that caliber.  Then some of those same people will talk about going to 9MM +P or +P+ to get extra velocity.

I have one of those 35 year old 6" barreled .357's.  A S&W 686.  I like 125 grain hollow points back then and the idea still sounds good to me now.  Especially the idea of a 16 shot .357 magnum (with the +2 baseplates on the magazines it's an 18 shot pistol.

When I bought my P07 in .40 S&W the idea was to have it converted.  Then I shot it and with the groups it shoots there was no way I was going to mess with it.

If you go through with it we'll need pictures of the pistol and the targets when you get it back.

Do you reload .357 SIG?  Since I have .40 S&W dies with a carbide resizing die I run the .357 SIG brass through the .40 S&W sizer first (gets the body back down in diameter) and then through the .357 SIG resizing die (expander ball and depriming pin removed) to get the neck/shoulder back to size.  Then I prime, charge and seat the bullets.  An extra step, but carbide .357 SIG dies are really expensive and I don't want to have to use case lube on pistol cartridges that has to be cleaned off.

Get youself some of that Hornady One Shot case lube. It is like sex lube and you do not have to clean up the mess!

To get the most out of the .357sig you have to buy ammo from a small company that still loads the round to it's full potential, or you have to handload. If you buy down loaded .357 sig from one of the major ammo companies, then it is not worth it. One would be better off using 9mm.

Do I think in real gun fight, if you have a .357sig you would win but if you have a 9mm you would lose the gun fight.

Nope, I don't think ammo will effect the outcome of a gunfight. I offer, as evidence for years in Israel we were forced to carry 9mm ball. Guess what we won gun fights with terrorist. We had an officer shoot a terrorist and the ball ammo killed terrorist but kept going to hit a Jewish woman in the stomach who was 8 months pregnant. Guess what hollowpoints were approved over night.

So I don't worry about ammo. .357sig is 100% emotional for me.

I have to get back in the USA, and then I will order the gun. But that may be a while I am currently in the Dominican Republic setting up a processing plant. Then have to go to the EU and Africa.

I got one from Stuart/CZC for my P-09, it's fun, makes your shooting partners jump--tried to get video of shooting it but quality was terrible, maybe I can get my videographer brother to help.  It does feel different re: POA/POI, and while I'm dialed in with .40 reasonably well (not bullseye, but definitely headshots at 10-15 yds and minute-of-badguy at 25), I haven't spent enough on .357 sig ammo to get there.

I've been beaten to the punch, I came to post that CZ Custom would make you one, I inquired about this a while back when .40 P09s were on sale from a distributor. 

Ive always liked the round, and used to have a P229 with .40 and .357 barrels.  I think the P09 would be just fantastic in that round, and the fact that the barrel is going to be custom anyway means you can get a threaded one.

You'd probably need a new slide so the 40 cases would fit, but I'm not totally sure on that one.
