CZ PO1
« on: October 28, 2016, 11:40:57 AM »
Like many readers, I've fallen in Lust with the PO1. They're not always available and shipments go fast. If you don't set aside the cash, you'll never get one by the time you scrape the dough together.
I keep hearing one line repeatedly from those who settle for the 75 compact instead of the PO1. "I got the Compact because it's the same gun!" And, another that CZ seems to using, "They are the same gun but go by different names in some countries. We interchange them if there is a glut of one in the market."
Isn't this a bit less than honest? There is a 4 or 6 oz difference in the model, is my biggest difference. There maybe other differences too that I am currently unaware of. Does anyone know the all of the differences?
The difference in weight is a huge factor for an old man that needs suspenders! Those of us with no apparent waist line have enough trouble keeping our drawers up as it is. Pull your gun, and trousers head for the pavement!
What are all differences and why doesn't CZ make enough of the PO1's to meet the demand? I've never seen a shortage of Compacts.

I haven't heard that they are the same gun.
   The 75D w/rail is the same as a P01.
Just as the 75D is the same as a PCR.
There's not a shortage of the compact because they are not in as much demand world wide as the P01/ 75D w/rail would be my guess.
With all their different models and different contracts around the world, they can only make so many at a time. JMO
If guns are outlawed.........
 Only outlaws will have guns.

The 75 Compact is a steel gun with a safety.

CZ would probably need to expand the size of their factory by 5-6x to meet current demand for their products.  As it is, they only make them in one place - Uhlansky Brod, Czech Republic.  Look it up on Google some time?  It's not a big place.  In fact, it's incredible that CZ produces as many guns as it does from a facility that size.

I'm actually glad they can't meet demand for their products.  That means they can maintain tighter quality control during the manufacturing process and thereby deliver a product that is good-to-go and free of defects.  Look no further than Kimber and Sig to see what happens when you expand and increase production too quickly: quality suffers, reputation is damaged and sales drop-off somewhat dramatically from bad word-of-mouth.

CZ delivers an exceptionally good product for a reasonable price.  If that means I need to set aside funds for the one I really want and be vigilant, so be it.  I waited almost 8 months to get my hands on a stainless 75B; five months for a PCR.
