Akodo1,  what Country said was of course correct,  but a LOT of research went into CGW's  race hammer.
I'm no gunsmith, but the fit, weight, design, finish and high quality steel were designed to not only give the optimum hammer strike  but we're also designed  to "last".

On a stock DA/SA hammer,  watch the hammer move " back" as the trigger pull starts.  Then feel the creep as you get closer to the drop after a long pull.  All this has been minimised or removed.  The SA  actually can be close to the same as a quality  1911 trigger.

I believe an improved hammer is the single  biggest action improvement available for the CZ 75 DA/SA pistols.

I just purchased a race hammer kit from CGW.  I am going to install when I have a few days off at Thanksgiving.  I have done some looking around and have NOT found a "complete" disassembly and race hammer install video.  I need one for guys like me who are new to CZ and are intimidated by the internals.  I appreciate pointing out the ones to stay away from and are for "entertainment purposes only."  Any suggested links for the "real deal" helpful ones?  Thank you.

There's definitely some full disassembly CZ videos out there on youtube. You can also search for removing safeties on the CZ which is pretty much the same as getting to the hammer.

  • Is it broken? Then why are you fixing it?

For all the videos I've watched this guy do, I've never seen the CZ one. That's was pretty funny. Not that I really stream every video on the Internet, but I follow the nutnfancy project and Wilson combat and a couple others just for something to watch when the Netflix que is empty. I loled

Wife: Is it broken?
Me: No.
Wife: Then why does it need to be fixed?
Me: I knew you wouldn't understand.
Me: You're way smarter than I am babe.
Wife: Ok, so if it's not broken and not fixed, what exactly is it?
Me: It's taking time Hun. Just taking some time.

Tripp1,  read and understand this thread;  then go through some of stickies that show pics .
This should help you understand what needs to be done and how it can be done. Find this thread with some good pics:    "Making Magic - Cajunizing the Pre-B"
Seems like we used to have some more detailed disassembly and reassembly stickies,  but they may be in the archives.
I have some printed out but my computer died,  and I can't make my phone do that kind of work. :(

1SOW and others, I don't watch many "YouTube" things mostly because I don't "fix" firearms.  However my main reason to reply to this SUBJECT is that I found the posts entertaining.  I can understand sarcasm and I have a sense of humor (so I think).  For 1SOW, I appreciated one of your November posts about sights, sight alignment with reference to POA and POI etc.

People wonder why I have a computer close to me that is frequently "busy".  I get or hear, "With whom are you writing (even on Thanksgiving Day)?"  I write in informal expository prose--not Iambic Pentameter.
DeltaGray was here rambling but I just rambled off this post.
