CZ Rami vs Sig P224
« on: November 13, 2016, 12:44:48 PM »
Does anyone have or have experience with the Rami and the P224, care to share your thoughts? I have the P224 and a CZ P-01 which I like extremely well. I like the P224 but it is a DAK model and the P-01 is DA/SA which I prefer so have been thinking about trying to find a RAMI BD model. Thanks for any comments.

The P224 is a nice gun. You can send it in to Sig to have it converted to DA/SA for roughly $200.00.

Thanks for the suggestion....I have decided that I want to leave the P224 as is and get either the RAMI BD or a P224 DA/SA. I am curious as to the pros and cons of the two by those that may have them or have used them. Apparently, there are not a lot of folks that have used both guns.

I can't say anything good or bad about the P-224 except that it is priced a bit high. I will rave about the RAMI BD though, hard to find but you will never regret buying one.

I have very limited experience with the Sig.  I come from a family of Sig fans and I never got into them as much as I tried.  The ergos of their classic line pistols really  don't work for me.  But they are great guns if they fit you.

The RAMI and 40B really fit me well, so my personal preference would be for the RAMI, but everyone is different.  So really, you need to try that out yourself.

On a full size gun, I like the CZ decockers better, on a compact I might prefer the lower profile of the SIg.  Still, I feel they get in the way on a little gun and opted for a safety RAMI. In the 224, I'd go with the DAK and stick with that.

Again, personal preference and only you can make that decision.

Thanks for the comments...and the picture. Very nice looking piece. I really like my P-01 and no doubt that has some bearing on my keen interest in the RAMI.

Thanks Ruber, I am new to CC and trying to decide what works best for me. At present, I am alternating the P224, P-01 and P225A1 all in the same type of leather IWB holsters. My preference for shooting is the P-01 but it is a tossup for CC.

I have huge hands and the P224 just didn't fit me well.  For that reason, I went with the P229 - twice (one was a Legion, which I did love). I wanted a Rami BD 3 yrs ago.  Couldn't explain it other than I thought it would be the perfect companion to my P-01, I guess.  In the meantime, I bought a Sig P229, P229 Legion, P239, P290RS, P938 (and a few more).  I FINALLY stopped making excuses and picked up a Rami BD.  Everytime I pick it up I try not to kick myself for not getting it in the very beginning.  Me and this fat little pistol FIT together.

All that was to say that if the P224 doesn't quite do it for you, try the Rami BD.  It'd be EASY to sell if you don't like it (but I suspect you will, since you're familiar with the P224, etc.).

Thanks for the comments, very interesting to me since you have experience with both the Sig and CZ's. I really like the Sigs that I have but I think the P-01 is just as good and dollar for dollar, I would go with the CZ. I will definitely keep the P224 as it carries very nicely for me but if the RAMI BD ever becomes available for a reasonable price, I plan on getting one. I am on the list with two suppliers and could get .40 model but I have my mind set on the BD, rightly or wrongly.  Thanks again.

I suspect you'll be very happy with that decision.

I have the rami safety and looking for the bd version. I shot the sig 938 today and glock 43. Maybe 50 round and i gave up on the sig, the trigger to me is just bad. Ive owned all three legion 9mm's, sao my favorite but sold after getting cz tactical sport with 1 1/2# pull. I had high hopes in the p938. The glock 43 was easier to shoot then my finger had enough of the gritty heavy pull. The rami even stock, was so much more enjoyable to shoot. Ive tried to get past the glock triggers but have yet to do so. Ive tried the 17, 19, apex triggers but the cz triggers are so much better.

I have a Sig P238, a Sig P938 and a RAMI BD. I replaced the triggers on both the Sig's, and that was a major improvement. I could not understand why Sig put a plastic trigger on an "expensive" firearm. I must admit that I shoot better with the RAMI. However I feel that each pistol has its place. It depends on what I am wearing as to which I carry.

As the sig is a couple hundred over other sub compacts, i would hope for better. Worse when a glock shoots better than a sig.
