RAMI cocked and locked question.
« on: December 05, 2016, 10:34:08 PM »
Hello,

I my current ccw is a sig p238 and I can run the slide with the safety on.

Is this possible on the RAMI with the safety? Or does the slide lock with the safety?

Why so sad?  Better for the slide to stay into battery when deholstering/depocketing until intentionally racking IMO.  Of course, since I'm a DA first shot kind of a guy, I wouldn't have such "security".  Seems a moot point if the gun is properly sprung and doesn't hang up slightly out of battery.   Maybe I'm missing something...

Yeah,  I am still new to ccw, a lot of times I still carry Israeli style.

I do want to get a rami I just don't know if i want safety or decoker.  My other guns all have frame safety so I should go with the manual of arms I have muscle memory for I think.

I don't see the problem. If you want to carry it like it and your 238 are designed to be carried, load the gun, chamber the round, apply the safety. if you carry chamber empty (effectively carrying an inefficient 1lb hammer), then don't apply the safety.

You say that but after less then 3 seconds my 1lb hammer becomes more effective than a 1 lb hammer. You need to understand that I carry it in the way I am comfortable carrying it. I am sure my comfort level will go up over time. Would you prefer I stop carrying?

When the 238 is cocked and locked the slide rack is very very light which I like when I need to put a round in the chamber. I do agree that if I am chambering a round its probably time to disable the safety. I may go decocker but still carry it empty, or as you would say "2lb hammer".

Anyway, thanks for the replies on the original question.

How many on target rounds can you shoot in 3 seconds? I don't care how (or even whether) you carry, loaded, unloaded, cocked or uncocked.

I still don't understand the problem. Why are you 'cocking and locking' an unloaded gun? if you don't want a round in the chamber, don't have one. If you are carrying unloaded, there's no need to apply the safety. The gun can't fire no matter what happens until you rack the slide and load it.

Dont worry about it.

I will look some other place for future answers.

Thanks!

Ah.  I didn't get that you carry with an empty chamber.  A decocker version with no safety would seem to be compatible.  A habitual motion to disegage the safety that isn't there will still allow a trigger pull and bangi n a SD moment.  Still recommend a holster though.

Jeez, another butt hurt noob. Why ask for opinions/answers then get the hump when you get them?
