What's up CZ gang - first post here.

I recently purchased my second CZ - this time from the good folks at CZC.  I'm in California so I bought it used.  It came with all the paperwork - including a large postcard with a clear warning on it:  Do not pull the trigger with the safety engaged in DA mode.

I was surprised - with my SP01, I can't even engage the safety unless the hammer is cocked all the way back. But with this gun, sure enough, you can engage the safety with the hammer down, or fully cocked.  You can flip the safety on at basically any point, but I suspect it only works in SA mode.

I listened to the directions and I did not attempt to pull the trigger with the safety down with the hammer down in DA mode.  But, what would happen if I did? Since I bought the gun used, I don't know if the prior owner did anything like this.  How would I know if anything was awry?

Hope the question is clear enough - any responses are appreciated.

I see that Angus mentions the issue here - but does not discuss the consequences or how to know if a prior owner had missed the memo and potentially damaged the gun.  Would there be any noticeable issues with the trigger if a prior owner was pulling the trigger with the safety on and the hammer down?

Welcome.

Don't own a shadow and not an expert, but generally you'll see damage either to trigger bar assembly and pivot points OR sear assembly and pivot points OR safety assembly itself if/when safeties are used in a manner different than designed.

You own the gun, and can remove the slide and see what is engaging/binding where  -- but note that it says "by force", which to me means it's possible so a CYA by CZ, but not probable to cause damage if you're not a bubba.

I have pulled the trigger on a couple of mine during dry fire with on noticeable consequences.  I stop when the trigger doesn't move so if really pull ing hard there might be some damage.

Also I am sure CZC checked the gun before passing it on to you.

The "problem" is caused by some competition hammers, more complete explanations are elsewhere on this forum.

Enjoy your new pistol.

If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.
