What ammo do you use for Kadet kit?
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:27:41 PM »
Just bought a Kadet online today. I think I got the last one in stock.

I heard that .22 LR is cheaper because the lead is exposed. What ammo do you normally use?

Also, I plan to use it with my PCR and coming sp01 shadow. I heard conflicting stories about whether Kadet will fit these two pistols.

Any advices would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum Zoneu
Congrats on your KADET Kit
Yes the Kit will run on both. but you'll need to use the PCR Slide Lock when using that Frame
I run Federal or hi-end Ammo
And I stay away from Remington and Winchester
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Thanks for the prompt reply. So it would work on PCR.

Finally, I understand. http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-kadet-adapter-ii-22-lr-adj-sights-10-rd-mags-will-fit-omega-system/

"When used on an aluminum-framed compact model (PCR, P-01 and P-06) as well as the steel-framed Compact .40, a specific slide-stop is required for proper last-round hold-open (part number 0440008002, available at no charge through our parts department). "

In order to hold-open, I need to get a different slide stop. Otherwise, it still shoots fine, I guess.

Many thanks for the advices on the ammo.

 Welcome aboard.
I'm a little different than others (in more ways than one[emoji87]). I've always had good luck with Remington Thunderbolts. Dirty as all get out, but maybe 3 failures in over 1000 rounds.
CCI mini mags, Amer. Eagles also shoot well. Mine does not like Winchester or Fed. Auto Match. The Auto Match really surprised me that I had so many FTFeed issues. Hmmm, maybe I need to try them again[emoji848]
That's all I've been able to try from around here. Someday I'll start ordering online.

I use Federal Automatch, Federal bulk, CCI Minimags, and CCI SV in my Kadet Kit.  All work well.  I shoot my Kadet on both my 75B, and PCR.  It works great on both, and I just use the 75B's slide stop when I am shooting that, and the PCR slidestop when shooting the PCR.  Both allow the last shot bolt hold open to engage properly.  You will love the Kadet.

Ha. Interesting.

Other than the barrel getting dirty with lead, do you worry about the impact of lead on health? Any FMJ like 9mm?

@Pilot1. So, I just need the slide stop of the respective gun to make the last run hold-open? I bought the Kadet online, so I don't have chance to test out yet. Thanks for the info.

I had heard lots of good praise about Kadet. Hope I can do more practice.

At least on my 75B, and PCR the Kadet functions fine with those respective slide stops.  I have read that the PCR slide stop is the best to use with the Kadet Kit in all the CZ's, but my experience is with using the 75B slide stop with the Kadet on the 75B, and the PCR slide stop with the Kadet on the PCR, and they both work fine.

I think the Kadet Kit is one of the best .22 conversions made, and maybe THE best.

Try some CCI MiniMags first if you can get them. Or at least some higher velocity ammo. Keep Kadet well lubed with oil (not grease). Make sure that you use factory main (hammer) spring (20lb)  and you if replace it, do not go with lighter than 17lb for reliable 22LR ignition. After some break-in period, try some standard velocity entry target level ammo. Those are 40gn lead bullets with waxy lube. You may be pleasantly surprised with accuracy.

I use CCI Mini Mags and Standard Velocity almost exclusively in my Kadet.

No worries on lead exposure. About every 100rounds or so I run a bore snake thru. Other than that you're GTG.
Yes, many of the brands listed are copper plated. CCI mini mags and American Eagle for example.

@pilot1 Good to know from your first hand experience. I sent an email to CZ parts department yesterday before posting here, not sure if I will get response from them. If so, I will also do an update here.

@cntrydawwwg  :). I guess fearing of lead is not a trait of gun holder. haha. I am planning to let my kid to try shooting too, therefore the concern came up.

@steel @Boris I will check out the CCI mini, if I can come across some. Awesome!

Norma Tac 22 will run well also.  I've only shot about 10k rounds of CCI and 40k rounds of Norma ammo through mine, though.   :) :)

I have better luck calling CZ USA Customer Service rather than emailing them.

@Joe L Just realized that there were k's in the round count. That is serious money got bang'ed. :) where is your favorite place for ammo shopping?

@pilot1. Took your advice, and made a call, or "calls". The customer service was not exact the type you can get from Disney Cruise Line. But they did know what I was talking about, and very efficient. So efficient that I was hanged up before I could say good-bye. It seems that they are very busy and calls are coming in nonstop.

Yes, they created an order for the Kadet slide stop free of charge. Can't wait for range time. :)
