Cz82 tight magazine
« on: December 19, 2016, 01:21:08 PM »
Bought a JG gss Cz82 a while back and just now getting around to fiddling with it.

Something is causing the magazine to be really tight. Have to strip it every time and it's a relatively hard strip.

I swapped mags between my 83 and the 82 to try and narrow down the issue. 83 mag has the same problem in the 82 while the 82 mag is fine in the 83.

So what should I be looking at to correct the issue? I can't find any obvious locations it would be binding.

Try it without the grip(s). The screw(s) may be binding.

or

The mag may just be out of spec, or an aftermarket replacement and need replacing.

Had the grips off when I was trying to determine where the binding was.  No difference that I could tell.

Don't think it's an out of spec magazine.  Both magazines work fine in the 83 and both bind in the 82.  I will bust out the calipers this evening to make sure though....

OP, dunno if you fixed this or not, but I had a similar problem with one of my magazines. I finally cleaned the living bejesus out of it to make sure it was super clean. I then went over the outside of it with the CLP and gave the outside a good coat. Let it sit for a few mins, then wiped it off thoroughly.

I also took apart the grips of the 82, really cleaned the living bejebers of the magazine well too with Hobbes, a brush, and then some patch cloths until they came out clean. I then did the same thing, gave it a thorough rubdown of the surfaces that came in contact with the magazine with CLP (feel free to use the lube of your choice), gave it a few mins to penetrate, and then thoroughly wiped it off. I left everything open overnight and then tried it out the next day. First I tried it with the grips *off* so I could see if and where the magazine was binding up. When it didn't hang up, I put the grips on again and let it rip. When everything was working fine, I tried all the other magazines, both full and empty, to make sure I didn't screw anything else up.

YMMV. Good luck!
