No longer importing SAR K2 in .45
« on: December 19, 2016, 02:03:46 PM »
Last week, after asking, EAA told me that they received their last shipment of the SAR K2 in .45 earlier this year. Anyone know if this is true and/or if it means SAR is leaving the US market generally?  I have two of SAR in .45 and in 9mm and they are amazing...so was bummed to hear this.

There is probably a lot that we don't know.  Could be that there is a newer updated model coming out.
Again, we really don't have all the facts, as yet.

The Assassination of the Russian Ambassador in Turkey probably is not going to help matters, either!  :o

With the new Sargun being imported in 9 and 45, they may be weeding out the K2 45.

I bet they'd sell tons if they brought the stainless version over.  Eh?  Eh?

If there were a way to get a stainless K2 45, I'd be all over it. As it is I?m grateful to have the steel one, and hope all is well for EAA and SAR.

Maybe, SAR has negotiated a better deal with another importer? (Hope)

Turns out the gun was a Canik TP9.

Appears to be one that might have been made prior to importation, with a Stainless or Chromed Barrel.

Here is my Canik TP9, which happens to be my most favorite Striker Fired Pistol.

I wonder what that means for replacement parts availability? I am stuck on deciding between a new tristar or reaching much deeper in my pocket and picking up a CZ compact and I keep coming to ... what do I do for parts 5 years from now if tristar stops distributing. Am I being insane?

I don't think your being insane at all. In large part, this is the reason I didn't buy a K2 45. I already had several CZ 75's, and parts availability/interchange was a big factor in buying a 97. The Caniks/ TriStars/ Sars are nice guns, but another $200 for a cz isn't much over several years of ownership compared to ammo costs. 4 extra rnds of .45 would be nice, but my 97 is a range toy anyway so no big deal to me.

Sarsilmaz isnt going anywhere and folks have already done an end run around EAA (who by reports is a PITA to deal with) to get parts directly fron SAR in Turkey.

With there new SARGUN multi caliber platform coming in 45 it may be that EAA is shifting to it as their 45 option.

I had a similar issue with a grandpower. I tried and tried to order stuff directly from them that just wasnt available through the local distributor but was being made and I didnt get responses for the longest and then when I did after several unanswered emails they told me to contact my local distributor ... who told me they couldnt get the parts. I even joined their forum and tried to contact them but ... nothing.

Funny how this all intertwines.  I have a client who bought a CZ P-07 and a SAR K2P the same day.  Two weeks later he brought back the CZ and said he likes the K2P better.  Then he bought the K2-45 and loves it and said he is selling his Glocks...  Wants me to bring in a Sargun but none of my distributors have it.
