Scorpion carbine accuracy
« on: December 22, 2016, 06:42:09 PM »
Tested my new carbine today. Wow!!!

Temp - 37 degrees, Elevation - 7500 feet, Range - 25/50/100 yds
Load - Precision Delta 124 Gr. JHP, 4.5 Grs of Hodgdon Titegroup
Optic - Leatherwood Hi Lux Micro Max B-Dot Gen 1, 2 MOA dot

Shot from bench/sandbags.  Gun is bone stock.  It is definitely ready for trigger spring and extended charging handle from HBi. The stock trigger really, really sux big time!

Try the 147gr ammo seriously, This is from this afternoon.

Here's my sight in target at 25 yards , first shot was high left, 8 clicks right and walked in the height before adjusting windage. The 2 shot target on the right is 50 yards using 147 grain lawman once dialed in "was previously sighted in for 115's but used those usp" sandbagged with a Scorpion "Pistol" and a Holosun  Red/Circle dot.

The 50 yards might just be dumb luck as at that range, and I ran out of bigger circle targets. All I got left is those and a bunch of long range small dot targets for bench rest shooting with magnification. slightly windy but I was shooting between gusts whenever it went still. Scorpions are pretty bleep accurate, CZ isn't cutting any corners on barrels here.

My Scorpion pistol has similar accuracy earlier this year at 25 yds.  D@mn these things are shooters and not just my luck-of-the-draw, you guys did the same with yours!  My Colt carbine is going to the back of the safe now ;D

yeah, it's way more accurate then the 9mm Ar-15 I use to have "which cost more at the time"  :o , The bore is pretty perfect, I borrowed a bore scope and there's not a pit, burr or etc. in there.. It also looks like the hand polished to a mirror finish my feed ramps, I was all set to do that myself on day one like I always do and was puzzled with the lack of machining marks..

Sorry if I'm hijacking off-topic , didn't mean to derail the op's thread.

My carbine shoot very well too. Has anyone shot 115 and 124 to see the impact difference, if any, at 50 and 100 yards ?

I have and the results between the 2 were very similar, drop was not much.  I had the carbine resting on a home made stand so as to be sure the weapon was as steady as possible and was using a TRS 25 sight  At 50 drop was not apparent, at 100 the drop on the targets was apparent only (drop was so slight I still wonder if was drop) by overlaying the targets.

If I remembered correctly, the POI changed about 2" at 50 yds and 4" at 100 yds, not really significant enough to worry about for a PCC.

Here's my long range experience with the Scorp.  It's still accurate at 100 yds!

Thanks, go to know. Been planning on getting to range and try it myself.
