Scorpion pistol with brace or carbine...cant decide
« on: December 27, 2016, 05:48:23 PM »
hey guys I've wanted a Scorpion since they released the S1.   I've resisted buying one so far!    I wanted a PCC so ended up buying a Gen two Sub 2000 9mm glock version.   Its ok but the sights suck, getting a red dot on there requires more $ to be able to still fold it.   I like it but still want the scorpion.

My initial thought was get the pistol with the Shockwave blade.    I want to keep it as compact as possible   That's one thing I like about the Sub 2000 is the ability to put it in a back pack etc.     Can someone give me an overall length with pistol and Shockwave blade in shortest form?   I don't want to SBR it so that's out of the pic.    I was also thinking of the carbine version because I shoot USPSA and could use that in the PCC division.   Not sure I would be comfortable shooting the pistol with brace in a competition and worry if people thought I was shouldering it.   I also like the folding stock.   But overall length is pretty long on the carbine.

What do you guys think?   Advantages of both for sure.   Honestly my Sub 2000 is small, takes glock mags so its great but its definitely not CZ quality.    I'd probably sell the Sub 2000 to help fund the Scorpion

thanks....sorry it got a little long winded!

Mine is 25 inches from my eclipse muzzle device to end of blade unfolded. It's  just 17 inches from tip of muzzle device to back of folding mechanism folded. Nothing wrong with good explanation of what you have and what you want. I almost did what you did but I new I had to have this glad I did. CZ weighs more I'm sure, But it looks so much cooler and it's very accurate. You will spend some money compared to setting up your keltec. I've spent a decent amount on mine already. Mine was an itch I had to scratch.

Awesome!  that's the info I was looking for.   What folding device is that?  CZ custom?     Love that set up

Cz custom is correct on the folding mechanism. It just feels right and I also have my ccw so if I wanted to. I could carry this anywhere I can a normal pistol. I doubt I would, but who knows never know what the future holds. I have shared pictures of mine a lot on this forum. In fact almost any big thread or question similar to this has more pictures of my pet. I generally share pictures as words don't do it justice in my opinion.

Pistol is the way to go! I was checking out carbines before I ended up deciding on the pistol. a 16" barreled 9mm just seemed stupid to me at the time this gun was made to be short sbr length.. would you buy an mp5 or ps90 with a 16 inch barrel ?

I bought a Carbine.  I intend to use it in PCC matches, but the master plan is to SBR the thing, install a pistol barrel, and run my Silencerco Hybrid tucked under the Carbine handguard.

If you really plan on doing USPSA PCC, then you should go with the carbine. USPSA won't allow arm-brace or cheek-weld stocks. It has to be shouldered.
You can shoot it like this and start having fun immediately, while you wait for your Form 1 to SBR it.

Thanks for the input guys!    Shooting it in USPSA would be nice but it's not a deal breaker if I can't.    Lots to think about :)

Buy 2, 1 of each, still cheaper than a mpx carbine  ;D...

Right now at DEguns.net it's $724.99 out the door if you use the $30 off coupon to cover the $30 s/h fee

Get both. You only live once  ;D

BTW, brace the pistol against sternum and square up the body to target, I can still see the sight/dot clearly.

Why not go with the third option of pistol first then SBR?

Thanks for that pic!   I went ahead and ordered the pistol!    Getting both eventually could be an option knowing me haha
