6.0mm for recommended 6.5mm front sight
« on: December 31, 2016, 08:27:14 PM »
the rear sight I have requires a 6.5mm front. but they are NEVER in stock on CZ Custom. they do have the 6.0mm. so I was wondering if I go ahead and buy that one, will it make THAT much of a difference. the sight I want is a trijicon. here is the link to the one I want...http://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/front-and-rear-sights/sights-tritium/cz-tritium-front-sight-6-5mm.html

Couple inches I would guess at 25 yds. Use the site height calculator on the web, and of course it may still vary with bullet weight.

I am assuming that the rear sight is not adjustable for elevation. If I am correct, then wait for the correct sight. 1mm = .0394   (usually rounded to .040 ) which means the front sight will be .020 shorter than you need. Depending on distance, sight radius of the gun and so on, this can be significant.
I think you will shoot too high with that sight.

Maybe try to search different sources.  Maybe there is some place else that will have exactly what you need. If you have an adjustable rear sight, then it is possible that the difference could be made up in the adjustment, but even that is not a guarantee.

I think you're best off waiting for the right part.

Good luck

You could always give Dawson Precision a call. I am sure they have exactly what you want in a front sight.

Honestly a lot depends on how you personally see through the sights and how you shoot and what ammo you are using.  I would shoot groups with whatever front sight you have, and make adjustments based on the formula on Dawson's site.

the difference is only .5mm height. I can purchase a 6.0mm or a 7.0mm trijicon all day long. its the 6.5mm that's impossible to get

You could use the Dawson sight calculator to determine the difference in POA-POI for the 6 MM and 7 MM front sight.  Then see if you think waiting for the 6.5 MM sight is worth it.

If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.
