700-X 9mm = dirty bunny fart loads

I bought 4# of CSB5,  a Spanish shotgun powder (used by Rio shells),  very small light discs that may be somewhat similar to your 700x.
Very light and fluffy discs the same exact size as the primer flash hole
,  4.5 GRS does get around 130pf and fills the case to be AT the base of the bullet,  but it's as dirty or a little more so than 7625.
It went bang and shot okay,  but nothing to get excited about.
I also bought this during the powder shortage,  but "can" use it for 9mm.
I can't bring myself to toss it.

Whew, glad I'm not alone is such a dilemma. I hear good things about CSB1 but I guess 5 is not so good.

Back when CSB5 came out, 1SOW's description of CSB5 made it sound like Solo 1000, which has of course been a unicorn for a couple of years, and I speculated as to whether or not it was coming from the same manufacturer in Spain that made Solo 1000.

Recently, Western said they were still hoping to import Solo 1000 into the U.S. market, but that the lots produced the last few years had come out too different from previous lots for Western to import it as Solo1000, and that instead those lots were being used in commercial shotshells made by Rio.  Now I'm wondering if CSB5 isn't just made by the same manufacturer, but in fact IS Solo1000 from those lots that were too different. 

Note: this is wild speculation, not to be repeated elsewhere as "I heard that CSB5 was really...."

Correct, Solo 1000 is a single-base powder from Spain, imported by Accurate.

When I started going crazy with single-base powders, a couple of cans of Solo 1250 showed up at a gun show. I recognized it for what it was and bought all they had (two 12oz cans) not knowing what speed it was. I've finally worked through one of the cans, using it in 38 Super loads. Data on this stuff is so rare that I'm still not sure how much slower it is than Solo 1000. I finally ended up calling Accurate and they faxed me 4 or 5 pages of load data. It's not mentioned in any of my books (which is saying something) or even many of the Accurate load pamphlets.

So I can trade you 12oz of Solo 1250 for the same in 700X, if you like !! If I remember correctly, Painter got stuck with some Vectan. Together with some CB5 you could have an entire cabinet full of "lonely hearts" powders. Maybe open a special web page dedicated to weird powders.

See if you can find a fish tank pump, or an old barber clipper at the thrift store. Tape that to your PM !!

Is that for anti-static or are you just being funny at this point (pool on the roof of the high school sort of prank)? You know so much and help so much I might just believe a prank like that from you.

No, these are serious suggestions. By eliminating static in the hopper and adding a vibration source maybe you can help yourself. You may find that any form of consistent vibration gets the powder to a more consistent density, thus solving your consistent weight issue. This is a trick used in the late Jurassic Period of reloading.

The Spanish manufacturer names this powder MaXam CSB 5, 7 etc.
This was not licensed for powder barrel import and repackaging in the U.S.A,  since the initial repackaging,  it's been renamed various names similar to CSB5.
They did/do provide load data for 9mm and more pistol ammo.

I researched MaXam online in Spain.
I also  corresponded with a Spanish member of the HR Forum,  who also usesd CSB7 for his CZ.
Spain couldn't import gun powders at the time I considered this powder.  They were stuck with in-country manufacturers.
 
It was VERY inexpensive at the time.
