Recommendation for spare parts to keep on hand for PCR
« on: January 18, 2017, 01:39:51 PM »
Hi folks,

I am new to CZ's and just recently picked up a PCR...fantastic gun!  I will use it primarily for range and occasional carry along with others in my rotation.  I'm not a real heavy shooter but I'd estimate putting 2000-3000 rds/year through this gun would be realistic for me.

I'd like to keep a small stock of spare parts on hand in the event of a simple parts failure as I do for several other pistols.  I'm no gunsmith but I can usually do the simple stuff with the help of the web and this great forum as a guide.  Does anyone have a list of the most commonly replaced wear and tear parts in a stock CZ PCR?  Another words, are there any "weak" parts that are known to fail faster than others?

Other than grips and maybe sights, I'm planning on keeping the gun OEM for now, but may choose to send it in for some custom work down the road.  I'm thinking of parts such as recoil springs, trigger springs, extractor springs, extractor, roll pins and maybe a slide stop would be a good start.  Is there anything else in particular that I should be aware of or that generally is a good idea to keep on hand for this model?  I appreciate any thoughts or input..

Regards,
Steve

I think you pretty much nailed it already but the only roll pin that might need to be replaced is the Firing Pin Retaining Pin and this is best replaced with the CGW option that holds up better. From what i have seen the factory FPRP is more likely to give you trouble if you are doing allot of dry fire. So it may not come up. I am interested to hear what other forum member have to say on the subject.

Keep an extra Trigger Return Spring, maybe a recoil spring too.

And PLENTY of ammo. ;)

Thanks guys!

On a side note, I need to order some new roll pin punches.  What size roll pin punch is best to use to remove the FPRP?  In my search I've seen some say 3mm and some say 1/8th".  Which one would be best or does it matter?

I use a 1/8" even it can be a tight fit in some instances. Having something smaller as well is not a bad idea.
