no issues but the smoke does smell a bit different than the plated bullets

Yea, hi-tek coated bullets can have a very slight smell similar to burned wire sometimes if any smell at all.  If its a very strong smell either the coating wasn't quite properly cured or it was damaged during the loading process.  As long as your barrel was easy to clean you don't have any problems.

Not really a strong smell, but after shooting rapid fire (10 rounds, mostly to function check a magazine I ran over) I could smell something different than I normally smell shooting.

Darn it! I had two failure to feeds at my last match. Would this be caused by rounds too short or too long?

One of them required a bump on slide to get into battery. While the other one was jammed to the point I had to drop the mag after locking back the slide. I was using factory Cz 18 rounders.

Make sure to plunk test for your pistol. Mine plunked shorter than I expected.

Wait.  Are you saying your cartridges at 1.060 - 1.068, and they plunk fine at that OAL?  Or are you saying the maximum OAL at which they will plunk and spin falls between 1.060 and 1.068?

I am aiming for 1.060 but am getting average variance of 0.004" max of 0.008". I can plunk upto 1.080" I think it was.

 :)

I'll likely miss out on the latest and greatest for quite a while before I make a minimum order and test, run out and test again with a few more.  The money I "save" doing it this way,  makes it possible to pay more up front for a quality bullet and coating.

Yes,  I'm a stubborn old geezer who starts slow,  tests long and is reluctant to accept "small deviations"  that could ever cause trouble.  I do miss out on the fun of running the tests. That's worth something too.

Why are you so quick to bad mouth H&S bullets?

From very start you've had nothing good to say about them.

Bought a 500 pack of H&S 125 CN.  The quality was consistent, loaded good.  I prefer the Black Bullets 125 CN, but this would be a suitable replacement.  I can load the Black Bullets a little longer but the H&S were quality.

Be aware that the bullets in question here are not necessarily CZ and EAA friendly. What I mean by this statement is that the Ogive on the 125's is closer to the tip which means that in our CZ's and EAA's it requires a shorter COAL. 1.075" would be all the longer I am able to load and not encounter the lands on some of my pistols. If you are only using 4-5 gr of powder this will probably not be a problem and still won't be compressed. I am actually contemplating reaming my chamber throats to open up more powder choices with these heads.

Why are you so quick to bad mouth H&S bullets?

From very start you've had nothing good to say about them.

Fact: You bought the cheapest bullet out there.
Fact: You had some failure-to-feed issues.

Those are your statements, not mine.

Now, please tell us how observing facts you've plainly stated is "bad mouthing" anything or anyone.

And for the record, please point out these other infractions that constitute "from the beginning".

If I've offended you in some way then I apologize, but brother you need to chill.

As a price comparison.... Rocky Mtn Reloading has their own plated 124gr RN for 7.9 cents in quantities of 3000.

https://rmrbullets.com/shop/bullets-for-reloading/bullets-for-reloading-9mm-355-12/9mm-124-gr-rmr-hardcore-match-round-nose-plated-2/?v=7516fd43adaa

H&S 124gr coated lead 6.9 cents / 1000, 6.4 cents /3500

Blue Bullets 124gr coated lead 6.8 cents / 1200 + shipping

I can't see how an undersized bullet is a "deal" with so many correctly sized bullets at very nearly the same price.
Last line.
